West Haven man, juvenile arrested after stolen vehicle crash on I-95 in Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — State police say a juvenile and a West Haven man were arrested Tuesday after fleeing a crash on Interstate 95 involving a stolen vehicle.
Troopers were dispatched to the crash in the area of Exit 16 on the northbound side of I-95 around 7:14 a.m. While responding, they learned the occupants of one vehicle fled the scene on foot.
18-year-old arrested on firearm charges in Norwalk
Norwalk and Westport officers also responded to the scene, creating a perimeter in the immediate area. Not long after, two people matching the description of the suspects were detained.
State police said they determined the vehicle involved in the crash- a 2019 BMX X6- was reported stolen from the town of Bridgewater.
Authorities also found a 2021 Audi S5 stolen from Greenwich that was left abandoned on the Exit 17 off ramp. State police said the vehicle's owner didn't realize it was stolen until police called.
State police believe a total of five people fled on foot from both stolen vehicles. Two have been apprehended as of Wednesday afternoon.

Both the juvenile male and 18-year-old Jeremiah Villacis of West Haven were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer/resisting.
The juvenile was released from custody on a promise to appear and Villacis was released on a $50,000 bond.
The juvenile is scheduled to appear at New Haven Juvenile Court on Feb. 14 and Villacis is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 4.
Both were also turned over to the custody of Greenwich police for separate charges, state police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Police use tracking device to help apprehend Hamden carjacking suspects
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they used a tracking device to help apprehend three people accused of fleeing from a carjacking in Hamden Thursday night. Johnny Jones, 20; Malachi Macfarlane, 18; and a 17-year-old boy were all charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, weapon in a motor vehicle, and interfering with police. Police said it was around 9:19 p.m. when they were notified by Hamden police of a carjacking that had just happened. The NHPD Real Time Crime Center then located the vehicle in the area of Goffe Street, by Webster Street. Officers used spike strips and Star Chase- a GPS tracking device- on the vehicle, which they said ended up crashing into a fence on North Place in West Haven. A .40 caliber handgun was located in the vehicle during the arrests, police said. 'This is great police work. From Hamden notifying us of a carjacking, then our use of technology to located the vehicle, safely deflate its tires and track it to West Haven where we recovered the suspects and took a gun off the streets,' New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said. 'I can't speak highly enough about how our officers responded.' Macfarlane and Jones were held on $500,000 and $300,000 bonds respectively and the juvenile was released to his guardian. Man charged for reckless driving with 6-year-old in the vehicle in Southington
SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man is facing charges for reckless driving with a 6-year-old in the car in Southington on Thursday, police said. Stephen Buckler, 43, of Bristol was charged with risk of injury to child, reckless endangerment in the first degree, disobeying signal of an officer, evading responsibility and failure to drive in proper lane. Police saw a white Chevy Trailblazer drive over the grassy median in the High School parking lot, cross the sidewalk, and enter Flanders Street, passing a row of stopped vehicles. Authorities said the vehicle continued traveling towards police as they asked the driver of the white Chevy Trailblazer to stop. The vehicle allegedly began to speed as it headed towards police and 'abruptly' turned right on Annelise Avenue, where it drove over a curb, striking a fence. Police said it caused other private property damage before fleeing the area northbound. According to police, the officers in the roadway had to jump out of the way of the moving vehicle. 4 people charged in connection to Fairfield street takeover
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Four people were arrested in connection with a street takeover that happened last month at a Stop & Shop parking lot in Fairfield, according to police. The alleged takeover happened on May 2, around 10:55 p.m., at Villa Avenue. Police said the scene, which resembled a street takeover, had drivers performing donuts, burnouts, and fishtails. Kent Mawhinney, charged in Jennifer Farber Dulos case, to appear in court Police also said that before they arrived, the parking lot asphalt was set on fire. When authorities arrived, the crowd quickly dispersed, and police collected evidence. They also said they used social media, dash cam footage and corroborated with other police departments. After police obtained an arrest warrant, they said they seized a blue Dodge Charger Daytona, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, and a white Ford Mustang GT. Each of the vehicles belonged to an alleged suspect. David Romero, 20, of East Windsor, was charged with illegal racing on highway, conspiracy to commit illegal racing on a highway, reckless endangerment 1st degree, breach of peace, riot 2nd degree, unlawful assembly, reckless driving, failure to display plates, operation causing unnecessary noise and unsafe movement of stopped vehicle. Dilmar Ruano-Barrera, 26, of Stamford, was charged with Illegal racing on a highway, conspiracy to commit illegal racing on a highway, reckless endangerment 1st degree, breach of peace, riot 2nd degree, unlawful assembly, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle creating unnecessary noise, unsafe movement from a stopped position. Christopher McGirl, 20, of Wallingford, was charged with illegal racing on the highway. The mother of one offender interfered with Fairfield officers and charged Wanda Romer, 49, of East Windsor with tampering with physical evidence and interfering with a police investigation.
