Hawaiian Airlines to suspend Boston route
Hawaiian Airlines will halt Honolulu-Boston service on Nov. 19 and end Honolulu flights to Seoul on Nov. 21 and to Fukuoka, Japan, on Nov. 19.
"It's always a difficult decision to suspend a route, especially in cities like Seoul, which we have enjoyed serving for over 14 years," Hawaiian CEO Joe Sprague said in a prepared statement. "However, despite our team's best efforts, soft post-pandemic travel demand from Asia combined with various market challenges have persisted in Seoul, as well as in Fukuoka and Boston, both of which we entered in 2019."
Hawaiian currently flies five times per week to Seoul, four times per week to Boston and three times weekly to Fukuoka. It's the only airline currently serving Honolulu-Boston. Delta offered the route for the first time last winter on a seasonal basis but is not scheduled to resume it, according to Cirium data. Hawaiian is also alone on Honolulu-Fukuoka.
Korean Air, Asiana and Premia Air all serve Honolulu-Seoul.
For the holiday season, Hawaiian will replace the three suspended routes with an extra daily flight between Honolulu and Los Angeles and with two additional weekly flights between Honolulu and Sydney.
Hawaiian will also add a daily frequency between Honolulu and Seattle from late November through mid-April. And beginning in March, Hawaiian will fly twice weekly between Honolulu and Tahiti, up from once a week.
