Texas A&M DH announces departure, thanks Aggieland with heartwarming tribute
Texas A&M DH announces departure, thanks Aggieland with heartwarming tribute Texas A&M baseball's most integral leader shared a heartfelt and emotional goodbye to the Aggie faithful after becoming one of the program's most talented utility players in his graduate season in Bryan-College Station, Texas. In collegiate athletics, players come and go frequently. Especially in the current era of the transfer portal, athletes are leaving their respective universities to pursue their future endeavors. Loyalty and leadership are two qualities that are rare in this new era and are extremely important in building a roster filled with players who will lay it all on the line for each other. The Aggies did just that when they landed outfielder and designated-hitter Hayden Schott during last year's offseason. His ability to lead on and off the field earned him the No. 12 jersey for the 2025 season. Schott did the number justice, to say the least. He started 33 of 50 games this season for the Aggies and collected four homers and 34 RBI, but his contributions as a leader in the clubhouse were an invaluable trait that will be remembered forever in Aggieland. On Thursday afternoon, Schott posted a heartwarming tribute to his time wearing the Maroon and White this season, thanking the fan base for their undeniable support. Before his time in College Station, Schott was a standout outfielder for Columbia as he dominated his way to All-Ivy League honors in 2022 and 2023. Following his stint with the Lions, the Newport Beach, California, native quickly made an impact when he stepped on the field at Blue Bell Park. His contributions on and off the diamond earned him the Marion Pugh Spirit Award for his instrumental abilities in bringing unity to the team and his valuable leadership. Schott's charisma and personality instantly made him a fan favorite on the Texas A&M baseball roster this season. The 2025 "12th Man" will forever be remembered for his unwavering passion for his teammates, coaching staff and for every single member of the Aggie fanbase who stood by his side and constantly supported him throughout the ups and downs of the program's season that ended at the SEC Tournament at the end of May. 'I think that's more on a human level' Texas A&M DH reflects on Missouri sweep
'I think that's more on a human level' Texas A&M DH reflects on Missouri sweep Texas A&M (27-23, 10-17 SEC) likely won't make the NCAA Tournament after the Missouri Tigers, who entered the weekend 0-24 in SEC play, swept the Aggies by a combined score of 23-8, as the Aggie offense produced just two hits in the final two games, and while all of us waited for the Aggies to improve after Game 1, the team continued to spiral downward. Sunday's loss was not just embarrassing, but also served as the final home game of the season, while capping off the A&M careers in Blue Bell Park for several players, including Hayden Schott, who has served as the 12th Man representative throughout the year. Going into the week, there is plenty of blame to go around, but the players on the roster and the coaching staff deserve an equal amount of said blame after what we witnessed. However, It's important to remember that these young men don't deserve personal attacks outside of fairly criticizing their play on the field, as Hayden Schott reminded everyone during the post-game presser that at the end of the day, it is important to also see this team as individuals once the jersey is off. 'I think that's more on a human level, to be honest with you, not a baseball level. The reason I say that is cause there's probably, me probably up there the most, that really just feel like we've failed a lot of people. 'I know for a fact that Jace (LaViolette) isn't mad that he didn't perform for the draft. He is mad because he knows how his capability and he knows that he wanted to play for this university and for Coach Earley and that's why he feels the way he does…' 'It's not cause he's worried about himself. So I think it's just, you got guys who love each other as people, and then the baseball side of it, it just sucks. Just sucks.' Schott is right on point, noting the stark difference between fan expectations for the team's success, and the reality that, every player is going through their struggles, and no one, except for the other players in the locker room understands that through all the wins and losses, every man on the roster continued to fight despite the the recent outcomes. Texas A&M's latest injury report ahead of facing No. 2 Arkansas on Thursday
Texas A&M (21-15, 6-9 SEC) has won seven consecutive games leading into this weekend's critical road series vs. No. 2 Arkansas, as the Aggies look to win their third straight SEC series, coming off last weekend's sweep over visiting South Carolina. Since being shut 10-0 and held hitless against Tennessee in the first game of the series, A&M's offense erupted for 26 runs in the following Saturday doubleheader, including a 17-6 win to finish the series. Against the Gamecocks, Caden Sorrell's walk-off home run in Game 1 led to a 17-0 run-rule win on Friday night, leading to Texas A&M's largest comeback in program history. Advertisement Down 12-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Aggies chipped away, adding five runs heading into the ninth, only to load the bases with graduate DH Hayden Schott delivering a timely grand slam to bring the Aggies within one score. Texas A&M's patience at the plate continued to pay off in the final frame, as junior SS Kaeden Kent, for the second time in his career, stepped up to the plate with bases loaded with two outs, destroying an inside fastball for his second career walk-off grand slam. The Aggies are riding high, but the Razorbacks are No. 2 for a reason, boasting an elite pitching rotation with a 3.65 ERA, a batting average of .330, and rank third nationally with 84 home runs, compared to Texas A&M's 59. According to the newest injury report, Texas A&M enters the game as healthy as last weekend. At the same time, first baseball Gavin Kash is listed as "probable" with the potential to return to the lineup by Friday or Saturday. However, Blake Binderup, who was recently named SEC Player of the Week, has been one of the Aggies' best bats since last week, meaning Kash could be a candidate to play left field to keep Binderup at first. For the Razorbacks, second baseman Nolan Souza, who was injured against Georgia will miss Thursday's game, while pitcher Parker Coil is also out. Texas A&M will head to Fayetteville to face No. 2 Arkansas. Game 1 is slated for Thursday and will air on the SEC Network at 7:00 p.m. CT. Watch Texas A&M's comeback win, including two grand slams in 15-12 win over South Carolina
Watch Texas A&M's comeback win, including two grand slams in 15-12 win over South Carolina Texas A&M (20-15, 6-9 SEC) has been resurrected from the college baseball graveyard after sweeping South Carolina, capping things with Saturday' epic comeback win after trailing the Gamecocks 12-2 before storming back with two consecutive grand slams in the bottom of the night, improbably winning 15-12. According to Texas A&M's Associate Director, Athletic Communications Kyle Stafford, Texas A&M is only the 30th team in Division 1 history to hit two grand slams in the ninth inning, while the 10-run comeback is the largest in program history since at least the 1974 season. Momentum-wise, this is a step in the right direction, as the road only gets tougher with road tests against No. 1 Arkansas and rival Texas over the next two weekends looming. Two weeks ago, it looked like the season was all but over until consecutive wins over then-No. 1-ranked Tennessee on the road was the start of what is now a six-game winning streak, and after Saturday's finish, it looks like the Aggie bats are no longer a nagging issue. After Blake Binderup's home run, paired with two more runs in the seventh inning, the Aggies trailed 12-7 entering the bottom of the ninth, leading to 12th Man representative Hayden Schott hitting the first grand slam of the inning, and after Ben Royo, Nathan Tobin, and Bear Harrison loaded the bases once again, Kaeden Kent, with two outs, took full advantage of an inside fastball, blasting the pitch for his second, ninth-inning grand slam of his Aggie career. Hayden Schott is one of the best situational hitters in the country, so credit to head coach Michael Earley for placing him in the lineup to give the offense a chance. For Kent, he is officially Mr. Clutch and will continue to be counted on this season to deliver big hits in key situations. Before facing Arkansas on the road, starting on Thursday, Texas A&M will host Tarleton State on Tuesday night, looking to extend its winning streak to seven games.
