Lumberjacks defeat Cubs, send NOJHL final to Game 7

DonHeaven Veilleux's third-period goal stood as the game-winner on Monday night as the Hearst Lumberjacks held off a third-period charge from the Greater Sudbury Cubs to force a seventh and deciding game in their NOJHL championship series.

Daks Klinkhammer and Michael MacLean scored twice each and Karsen Chartier and Noah Beaulne combined to make 30 saves for the Cubs, who will look to clinch a second straight league title at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Cole Miller, Owen Hay, Liam Boswell and Adam Shillinglaw joined Veilleux in scoring for Hearst and Alexandre Boivin made 33 saves for the Lumberjacks, who will look to complete their comeback after erasing a 3-1 deficit in the series.
