Oasis fans go wild as band release new live track from reunion tour

OASIS have given fans who weren't able to bag a ticket to their sought-after reunion a treat. The band, led by Noel and Liam Gallagher, have been back on tour since July 4th – reuniting after a bust up broke up the band 16 years ago. 4 4 Last weekend, the band returned to their beloved hometown of Manchester, performing at Heaton Park to sold out crowds totalling 340,000 fans across five dates from July 11th to 20th. The band even got in trouble with the council as thousands descended to "Gallagher Hill" – a knoll overlooking the stadium – to listen to the gigs. The brothers then went to special lengths to honour those gathered there, including paying for 1,000 special T-shirts which were handed out to delighted fans during last night's show. Their generous gesture came days after Manchester Council ordered a fence to be erected in the city's Heaton Park, blocking the view of several large screens near the stage. Now they've immortalised the moment for everyone with an official release of their live rendition of iconic track, Cigarettes and Alcohol. Recorded on the first night of their stint at the stadium, Cigarettes and Alcohol has become a staple favourite on the brothers' set list. The latest track drop follows their release of Slide Away, which was recorded and released from their first date in Cardiff. Next stop is Wembley Stadium this Friday – the first of seven dates at the band. The band will appear July 25th, 26th and 30th, and August 2nd and 3rd. Oasis kick off first Manchester homecoming gig after 16 years away They will return towards the end of their tour for two more dates on September 27th and 28th. In between their Wembley stints, the Oasis tour will be going international – finishing up their UK and Ireland dates with Edinburgh and Dublin dates, before heading to Toronto, Canada. From there, they will start their Northern America stint, appearing in Chicago, New Jersey, California and Mexico. They'll then have a two-week break before returning to the UK. 4 4

Dried-up Runcorn park boating lake 'an embarrassment'

A dried-up boating lake has been described as an "eyesore" and an "embarrassment". Hundreds of residents in Runcorn are calling on Halton Council to sort out the attraction in Heaton Park. The low-level of the once thriving attraction has prompted fears for wildlife. Halton Council leader Mike Wharton said the authority was trying to "make progress as quickly as possible". Speaking on BBC Radio Merseyside's Hot Seat programme, Halton Council leader Mike Wharton said while lack of rainfall had had an effect on the water said there was a significant amount of work to be done with United Utilities and the Environment Agency to get the water levels back Arrowsmith, who runs the park's model boat club, said while there had been low water levels before there had been "nothing as bad as this"."The sides are giving in and we can't sail a boat," he said."They just hit the bottom and it scrapes the bottoms off." Council leader Wharton said the lake needed new pipes running into it, "but it's not that easy"."United Utilities have told us that we need to run a pipe from a reservoir and as we know at the moment reservoirs are running low," he added it was "brilliant" that so many people cared about the lake and the authority was working "to restore it to the way it was"."It's an embarrassment to me and that's why we want to make progress as quickly as possible."A United Utilities spokesman said: "We had a productive meeting with Halton Council and are continuing to look at how we can support them with a long term solution to refilling the lake." Liam Gallagher's sweary remark to brother Noel before Oasis walked out on stage in Manchester is 'revealed'

Liam Gallagher 's sweary remark to his brother Noel as they took to the stage in Manchester has been revealed. The Gallagher brothers are currently touring the UK for Oasis' long-awaited reunion and took to the stage at Manchester's Heaton Park on July 19 and 20. And it appeared that the siblings were overwhelmed upon performing in their hometown as their conversation before arriving on stage has been revealed. Video footage showed the pair having a chat in the wings before arriving on stage holding hands, and they appeared stunned by the reaction from their fellow Mancs. According to The Sun 's lipreader Nicola Hickling, Liam, 52, turned to Noel, 58, and said: 'F***ing hell, noisy innit.' To which Noel replied: 'Yeah, yeah,' before Liam added: 'Hear that?' as he appeared stunned by the raucous crowds eagerly awaiting their arrival on stage. The brothers then walked on stage holding hands as they performed in their native Manchester for the first time in more than 15 years. Elsewhere at their Heaton Park shows, Liam made a cheeky jibe at Coldplay for exposing a cheating couple at their concert. Andy Byron, former CEO of software firm Astronomer, was caught up in a scandal when he was filmed on a Coldplay kiss cam with his arms around the company's chief people officer Kristin Cabot at the band's Boston Gillette Stadium gig. After the controversy, Liam reassured Oasis fans there wouldn't any of that 'snidey s***' at his gig as he reassured couples they would be safe from any cameras. Speaking to the crowd at one of their shows in Heaton Park, Manchester, the 52-year-old said: 'Right then, do we have any love birds in the house? 'Don't worry we ain't got any of that Coldplay snidey f***ing camera sh*t. 'Doesn't matter to us who you're mingling with - or tingly with, fing**ing with, none of our f***ing business.' As he moved onto the next song, the singer added: 'This one's for the lovebirds anyway.' The viral clip from the Coldplay concert featured frontman Chris Martin panning his 'kiss cam' around the audience before landing on one pair, who looked horrified. As they hid from view, the singer quipped: 'Oh, look at these two - either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' The moment has become one of the biggest viral moments of the year since it was recorded last Thursday - and an online frenzy was sparked as people raced to identify the sheepish pair while making jokes about their reactions to being spotted. It was soon reported that Byron and Cabot are each married to other people, but are each registered at different addresses to their spouses. CEO Byron then resigned from the billion-dollar company on Saturday in a statement after being placed on leave. Confirming his resignation in a statement, the company said: 'As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,' the statement said. 'Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted.' 'While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not,' they added. 'We're continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems.'

Emotional moment as couple who 'got together because of Oasis' get engaged at concert

Watching Oasis at Heaton Park was unforgettable for tens of thousands of fans over the weekend - especially for one couple. And there was ''Definitely Maybe' about it when a die-hard Oasis fan popped the question to his girlfriend just before Liam and Noel came on stage on Saturday. In fact, when they first met the first message Craig Hogg sent to his now-fiancée, Simone Taylor, was "what is your favourite Oasis song?" - Stop Crying Your Heart Out was her answer. And now nearly five years on from that first contact, the couple got engaged just as they were on the cusp of seeing the band for the first time. Craig, aged 27, and Simone, aged 21, from Horwich, went to the gig at Heaton Park on Saturday, July 19, seeing Oasis for the first time. Having seen Liam and Noel play separately "around four or five times" it is fair to say that they are big fans of the band and their music. Simone and Craig (Image: Public) Before any of the acts came on stage, Craig ensured the concert would be even more memorable. Speaking to The Bolton News, Simone said: "We were at the gig, I could see he was nervous, but I thought he was just excited to see Oasis for the first time. "We were in the VIP section and I saw an Oasis backboard, I said I liked it. We went to take a picture in front of it, then Craig got down on one knee. "Everyone started cheering, and I said yes, obviously. "It was so emotional and a massive surprise, I did not expect that. It was a day to remember. "And as an engagement present, he told me that we had tickets to see them at Wembley on Saturday! I was just speechless, I was so shocked." Craig told me he had seen someone had proposed in the crowd at one of the other gigs, so thought 'do I do it, do I not?', people might think he is copying them. "But ours has a special meaning to it. He said as soon as I told him I liked that background, he thought that is the place to do it." Craig down on one knee (Image: Public) Craig was ably assisted by his mum, who was at the gig with the couple - though he did all he could to make sure the surprise was not ruined. Simone said: "His mum had the ring in her bag, though Craig made her go through security last in case the guards saw it and took it out. "When we got in I went to the toilet, and that must have been when he got it out." Craig and Simone very much enjoyed the gig afterwards, even getting matching tops to frame, which had the date of the show on them.
