Punjab child panel chief visits care centre in Doraha
Ludhiana: Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, vice-chairperson of Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, visited childcare institution Heavenly Angels in Doraha, to review the condition of the rescued child beggars recently brought under care and protection.
During her visit, Bawa closely examined the living conditions, counseling support, educational provisions, and rehabilitation efforts being extended to the children. She interacted with the staff and the rescued children, ensuring that all necessary measures are being implemented as per the guidelines of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Bawa emphasised the importance of timely psychological support and proper reintegration plans for the rescued children.
She further directed the authorities to submit a comprehensive report on each child's background, health status, and future rehabilitation plan to the Commission on the following Email Id:
Bawa said, "The commission is committed to ensuring that no child is left behind or forced into a life of begging and exploitation. It is our moral and constitutional duty to protect their rights and give them a life of dignity and opportunity."
The visit underscores the proactive steps being taken by the Commission to monitor institutions.
