Rihanna Is Pregnant! See Her 2025 Met Gala Baby Bump Debut

Rihanna chose a very fashionable way to announce her third pregnancy: the 2025 Met Gala red carpet. Tonight, the singer and Fenty founder showed off her baby bump in a Miu Miu dress as she departed the Carlyle Hotel to walk the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May. After all, she had to show up and support her man, A$AP Rocky, who is serving as one of the stylish co-chairs this year. And in typical Riri fashion, she did not disappoint with her own look. Rihanna has always enjoyed a high-profile pregnancy moment: she announced her first while wearing a hot pink Chanel puffer jacket and ornate body chains. A little over a month later, she showed up at the Dior show wearing a sheer black lace babydoll dress that showed off both her stomach and her lingerie underneath. 'When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There's no way I'm going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I'm sorry—it's too much fun to get dressed up. I'm not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing,' she told Vogue at the time about her pregnancy style. This will be her third child with partner A$AP Rocky. Currently, they have an almost three-year-old son RZA and a one-year-old son Riot Rose. As a seven-time Met Gala attendee, Rihana is a seasoned pro at delivering a head-turning fashion moment on the Met steps. When she first attended in 2007, she went the more classic and glamorous route in a white empire-waist Georges Chakra dress, complete with rhinestone embellishments. As the years have progressed, however, her Met Gala looks have only gotten more elaborate and avant-garde. One of her most famous Met Gala looks to date was back in 2015, when Rihanna hit the red carpet in a yellow Guo Pei coat-dress featuring an elaborate 16-foot train. In 2018, for 'Heavenly Bodies,' she made internet waves in a Maison Margiela papal look. For her most recent appearance, meanwhile—at the 2023 Karl Lagerfeld-themed exhibition—she chose a white Valentino floral cape and gown. Tonight, however, she and Rocky proved yet again that the Met is their event. Everyone else comes close. Article originally published on Vogue US

Power suits, tuxedo mini dresses — and, inevitably, plenty of skin: Fashion experts predict what women will wear for Monday's Met Gala

For the last decade, no matter the theme — flamboyant 'Camp,' 'Heavenly Bodies,' 'Manus x Machina' — many ladies at the Metropolitan Museum's annual Costume Institute Ball (aka the Met Gala) have displayed more skin than fabric. Emily Ratajkowski, Janelle Monae, Kim Kardashian, Lily James, Zoe Kravitz, Amanda Seyfried, Kendall Jenner, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez have all donned such sheer gowns they could have swooped in from the Victoria's Secret runway. Last year's 'Garden of Time' theme inspired the singer Tyla to don a Balmain dress made of sand. Only sand. 8 'I'd love to see some actress revive that backwards Dior suit Celine Dion wore to the Oscars in 1999!' said Parsons professor Vincent Boucher. Getty Images The theme for Monday's Met Gala is 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' (with a dress code of 'Tailored for You'), based around the history of the black dandy, and head honcho Anna Wintour has tapped an all-male lineup to chair the event: Colman Domingo, ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Lewis Hamilton. Some wags have worried the theme could prove problematic — either because of a risk of committing cultural appropriation or because of the menswear remit. After all, there are only so many vintage Yves Saint Laurent 'Le Smoking' tuxes to go around. But, in truth, the timing couldn't be better. 8 Model Kai Schreiber — the child of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber — recently walked the Valentino runway and was spotted in a daring blue double-breasted suit. BACKGRID 'At Paris Fashion Week [in March], the power suit for women was the big news,' author and red carpet expert Bronwyn Cosgrave told The Post. 'Men's fashion is having such a moment, with new style icons like Pharrell Williams, Timothée Chalamet and Colman Domingo, it had to affect womenswear. Plus, breaking out ball gowns in the current world economic situation seems inappropriate.' Fabulous options include Saint Laurent's big-shoulder numbers worn with ties, Haider Ackermann's sleek seductive suits for Tom Ford and Thom Browne's impeccable suiting favored by Janelle Monae and Doecchi. Nick Wooster, a menswear creative consultant, pictures female stars finally turning against the gala's earliest sexy stereotype: Cher's 1974 Bob Mackie naked dress. 8 Doechii rolled up to the Grammys in a Thom Browne suiting look. FilmMagic 8 Eiza González donned a modern gray suit for Thom Browne's NY Fashion Week show in February. / BACKGRID 'If there's ever been a moment of stylish women to be decked out in menswear, this is it,' said Wooster. 'The Met's the perfect venue to show off the imagination happening in modern menswear. Women will be so comfortable, they won't want to go back!' Celeb stylist and THR artistic director Alison Edmond loves 'the idea of the ladies going down the masculine route — a collared shirt and silk tie finished with a bowler or chic top hat, and heels … it can be very sexy if worn by the right celebrity. I'd be excited to see classic British menswear tailors like Ozwald Boateng or Dunhill suiting up the women ascending the Met stairs.' Parsons professor of fashion journalism Vincent Boucher has a starrier vision: 'I'd love to see some actress revive that backwards Dior suit Céline Dion wore to the Oscars in 1999! With the tilted white hat? 8 Dramatic suits were on display at Tom Ford's Paris Fashion Week show in March. Getty Images for TOM FORD 8 Saint Laurent also showed exaggerated menswear for women last September in Paris. WWD via Getty Images 'Women can really play with the dandy theme, even if it's all traditional black and white. Valentino couture was filled with sharp cuts mixed with frills. And no doubt someone will have a great Sarah Burton Givenchy moment — those tux jacket mini dresses!' The Post has heard rumors that Zac Posen is whipping up a custom GapStudio look inspired by 17th-century silhouettes and romantic poets for one lucky lady: a suit … with a train? 8 Could female stars finally turn against the Met Gala's earliest sexy stereotype — Cher's 1974 Bob Mackie naked dress? Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images 8 Menswear theme or no, Melissa Rivers predicted: 'Still, somebody will always do skin. It's Met Ball tradition.' Emily Ratajkowski showed plenty last year. Getty Images 'My hope is, we'll see highlights from female fashion history — [from] Edwardian and Victorian shapes to Chanel's first tweed suit in 1923, to Dior's New Look jackets,' said red carpet expert Melissa Rivers. 'But I do think this year men are finally going to steal the show. They've been building up to it for years. 'Still, somebody will always do skin. It's Met Ball tradition.'

Fashion fans detail fears of 'offensive' outfits amid Met Gala 2025 theme as preparations ramp up

It seems like the 2024 Met Gala only just happened - but once again we are mere days away from this year's event. Vogue announced the theme back in October 2024 as 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' - based on Monica L. Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The theme is meant to pay homage to Black style and its influence. The exhibition on display will feature 12 different sections, each one representing something that makes up 'dandy style.' And while many fans thought it was due time that Black style got the recognition it deserved, others immediately presented concerns about what could potentially come down the Met Gala red carpet. Their main worry being the risk of cultural appropriation and offensive outfits. While Anna Wintour has selected co-chairs that fashion fans believe were excellent choices - Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and LeBron James - it's other celebs that they're worried about. And the concern has only been amplified in recent days as preparations for Monday's big event ramp up. One user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: 'Scared for all the tone deaf/borderline cultural appropriation fits at the Met Gala not going to lie.' 'Dude, why would they make that the Met Gala theme for this year,' another shared. 'I feel like that leaves a hell of a lot of room for people to be unintentionally offensive,' someone else noted. Another X user presented concerns about 'white women in boho braids,' at the possibility of celebs who may use this year's theme as an opportunity to wear hairstyles or outfits that are less about celebrating Black culture and more about co-opting it. This isn't the first time fans have been worried about appropriation at a Met Gala event. In 2018, the Met Gala's theme 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination' received some backlash from religious conservatives. Some expressed anger about their religion being used as a 'costume.' This was met with the debate that the Vatican had approved the theme and even provided pieces for the exhibit to feature. Though the 2025 Met Gala them hasn't received 'backlash,' so to speak, there are general feelings of concern. While the theme is 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' the dress code is a simple 'Tailored For You.' This is a nod to menswear and tailored suits, something that celebs can possibly take advantage of to avoid any cultural appropriation. But the public won't be able to assess which celebrities approach the theme with care versus which ones use it as a chance to be offensive until they're walking down the red carpet. There's no doubt that this year's Met Gala event will spark many discussions.
