Victim in Pueblo's seventh homicide of 2025 identified by coroner

A Pueblo man shot and killed on July 28 has been identified by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office. Ian Q. Martinez, 31, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on July 28. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, the coroner's office announced on X. Pueblo police officers were called to the 600 block of East Arroyo Avenue just after 9 a.m. on a report of a shooting. They arrived to find an adult man, later identified as Martinez, in the street with an apparent gunshot wound, according to a Pueblo Police Department news release. 'The investigation is ongoing with no determination of charges at the time of the release,' police officials stated in the release. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged by Pueblo PD to contact Detective Hector Herrera at 719-553-3336. The city recorded a total of 20 homicides in 2024, which was down 28% from 2023, when the city recorded 28 homicides.
