The distress signal went off close to Hemsby Gap shoreline, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, this afternoon. The aircraft had been spotted above the sea on FlightRadar24, but has since disappeared and is feared to have crashed. There are four Hembsy Lifeboats at the scene at present, with officials saying the search could continue for " a while". A helicopter is also involved in the frantic rescue operation. Norfolk Constabulary and ambulance services arrived at the scene at just before 4pm. It is not known how many people were on the aircraft, nor any details of the plane itself. A spokeswoman for Hemsby Lifeboat helm, said: 'We are still doing a search of the area, a boxed search. 'The last known location is two to three nautical miles offfshore at Hemsby Gap.' It is still unknown if there have been any fatalities or injuries.

Search begins after light aircraft crashes in sea off Hemsby

Body of a man recovered after Broads boat fall
The body of a man has been recovered from a river in the Broads National Park. Norfolk Police said officers, as well as paramedics and fire crews, were called to Lower Road, Rockland St Mary, near Norwich, at 17:20 GMT on Tuesday. A man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene. The force said there were no suspicious circumstances. In a post on Facebook, Hemsby Lifeboat said it was also paged by Humber Coastguard "to assist in the recovery of a casualty who had fallen from their vessel". "On arrival, it became clear that there was little for us to do, as our colleagues from the fire service had already taken control of the situation," the lifeboat crew post read. "With the season about to get under way, we want to remind everyone that lifejackets are a must-have whenever you're on or near the water." The ambulance service sent two ambulances and two paramedic cars to the scene, while the fire service dispatched appliances from Carrow and Sprowston.
