Police said a 45-year-old woman also sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, adding that the bullet went all the way through.
'So this was an Easter egg party, one like I've never been to or seen,' said Captain Lamar Ballard. 'It is amazing that nobody else, especially young children, we are blessed that nobody else was hurt.'
The 26-year-old was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for critical injuries. He reportedly had multiple surgeries and is now in stable condition. Meanwhile, authorities worked to quickly locate the suspected shooter—identified as 22-year-old Ladavious Williams.
According to investigators, Williams shot his cousin in the chest and his mother was shot in the arm during the altercation.
Gallatin police said the party's host— identified as 66-year-old Henry Apple—was cited for his role in Sunday's incident. Apple reportedly has a long criminal history and was cited for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
'They are all related. The suspect shot his mother. The suspect shot his cousin and they are all related to the host of the residence, Henry Apple,' Ballard to News 2. 'And that individual has been known to Gallatin police for a long time.'
After searching multiple crime scenes, investigators said they found bullet casings, a digital scale thrown in a tree, and toys and diapers bags under the tents where tables were set up for the Easter party.
'There's baby bouncers, strollers, and bags mixed in with bongs, drug paraphernalia and narcotics,' detailed Ballard.
