Taiwan to offer 180,000 caregiver jobs in the next 5 years

Over the next five years, Taiwan is expected to offer 180,000 job opportunities for caregivers, open to aspiring Filipino migrant workers. According to Mariz Umali's report on 'Unang Hirit' on Monday, there has been a decline in the number of Filipino applicants in the recent years despite the growing demand for caregivers in Taiwan. Under current regulations by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), caregivers are classified as household service workers sector. This classification places their monthly salary at just over P20,000, making the role less appealing to many. Recruitment agencies are also prohibited from collecting placement fees and other miscellaneous charges from caregiver applicants. To help address the shortage of applicants and encourage more Filipinos to apply, the Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies is appealing to DMW to reclassify caregivers as semi-skilled workers.—Hermes Joy Tunac/AOL, GMA Integrated News

Fogo de Chão to bring Brazilian churrasco experience to Manila

A taste of Brazil is coming soon in the Philippines! Fogo de Chão, the internationally renowned Brazilian steakhouse, is set to open its doors at Glorietta 4 in Makati City in the third quarter of 2025, according to The Bistro Group. Known for its churrasco tradition, a centuries-old Southern Brazilian grilling over open flame technique, Fogo de Chão offers a dining experience built around bold flavors and premium cuts of meat. At the core of its concept is the rodízio service, where expertly grilled meats are carved tableside by trained gaucho chefs. Fogo de Chão's menu includes a wide variety of cuts, from classic picanha (signature sirloin) and fraldinha (Brazilian sirloin) to tender filet mignon, ribeye, cordeiro (lamb), and seasoned chicken. Complementing the meat selection is the Market Table, a vibrant spread of fresh salads, charcuterie, imported cheeses, and the hearty feijoada, a black bean stew inspired by traditional Brazilian farm recipes. Fogo de Chão, which was established in Southern Brazil in 1979, has been a destination for great dishes and the vibrant Brazilian food culture. —Hermes Joy Tunac/CDC, GMA Integrated News

Pride PH announces Pride March 2025 to be held in UP Diliman on June 28

Pride PH has officially announced that this year's Pride March and Festival, dubbed LOV3LABAN 2025, will be held on June 28 in the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City. The announcement was made on Pride PH's official Facebook account. 'Yes… sa UP DILIMAN ang puksaan sa susunod na buwan,' the organization wrote. Held annually in June, Pride events in the Philippines empower the LGBTQ+ community by creating safe spaces where their gender expressions and identities are celebrated, stories are respected, and their rights are recognized. It also serves as a protest against the abuse and injustices the community faces. In 2024, the Love Laban 2 Everyone or the Pride PH Festival at the Quezon City Memorial Circle saw 228,000 attendees. However, the event was canceled later that evening due to the heavy rains and 'compromised sound and electrical systems' for the concert. After the cancellation, Pride PH held a thanksgiving event on June 30, 2024. —Hermes Joy Tunac/CDC, GMA Integrated News
