Taiwan to offer 180,000 caregiver jobs in the next 5 years
According to Mariz Umali's report on 'Unang Hirit' on Monday, there has been a decline in the number of Filipino applicants in the recent years despite the growing demand for caregivers in Taiwan.
Under current regulations by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), caregivers are classified as household service workers sector. This classification places their monthly salary at just over P20,000, making the role less appealing to many.
Recruitment agencies are also prohibited from collecting placement fees and other miscellaneous charges from caregiver applicants.
To help address the shortage of applicants and encourage more Filipinos to apply, the Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies is appealing to DMW to reclassify caregivers as semi-skilled workers.—Hermes Joy Tunac/AOL, GMA Integrated News

Life insurer Singlife says over 1 million policies issued
Digital life insurer Singlife Philippines has crossed a major milestone with more than one million policies issued. In a press release issued Thursday, Singlife said it has paid out more than P100 million in claims since the company's launch in 2020. PH needs to compete with digitalized neighboring countries

''Because that's the only way to do it. You cannot operate in 2025 na kinakamay-kamay mo ang forms, pupunta-punta ka sa opisina, take three days, tatlong araw, kasi akala mo tapos na yung dokumento mo, ah hindi, may kulang pa ito, pumunta ka doon, tapos lalapit na 'yung fixer sa'yo, the whole experience, the whole bad experience,'' Marcos told GMA Integrated News when asked why he has since pushed for using the eGov PH Super app. (You cannot operate in 2025 that you're just using forms, you will go to offices and it will take three days, you'll think your document is finished but it's not. To achieve digitalization, Marcos said the public should be informed and educated as well, especially those living in far-flung areas. ''We will have to educate our people but again, 89 million, that's a good majority already of Filipinos who can,'' Marcos said. Marcos wants to increase awareness of the use of eGov PH Super app to provide easier access to national and local government services. Manny Villar is only Filipino in top 100 of Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Villar ranked 99th in the index with a net worth of $23.1 billion, up by $617 million or 2.7% from a year ago on the back his real estate holdings and property development business. The only other Filipino on the list of the world's 500 richest is ports and casino tycoon Enrique Razon Jr., ranked 239th with a total net worth of $12.3 billion, up by $2.96 billion from a year earlier. Villar founded of Vista Land & Lifescapes, mall operator Vistamalls, home-improvement chain AllHome Corporation and supermarket operator AllDay Marts.
