alum and TikTok influencer Yanin Campos has died following a car accident. The 38-year-old was driving in Chihuahua, Mexico, around 6:30 a.m. local time when she collided with a parked car, the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security told local newspaper El Financiero.
Campos' brother confirmed her death on Facebook.
"To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos. The wake is at Hernández Funeral. Starting today at 12 noon. For those who like to say goodbye and join us," he wrote on August 4 (as translated by the built-in Meta translator).
Campos first appeared on the 2018 season of MasterChef México, finishing the competition in sixth place. The following year, she was asked to join MasterChef: La Revancha.
The chef had been building a presence on TikTok and had amassed nearly 100,000 followers before she died. Her pinned posts on the platform have dozens of condolences in the comments.
