New Harley-Davidson X440-based motorcycle to be launched in September

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch a new Harley-Davidson X440-based motorcycle in September this year. The company revealed the development during the latest investor call. Hero and Harley-Davidson co-developed the X440 for the Indian market, followed by the Hero Mavrick 440 . Notably, dealers recently stopped accepting bookings for the Mavrick 440, although the company has yet to confirm the model's discontinuation officially. Hero and Harley-Davidson co-developed the X440 for the Indian market, followed by the Hero Mavrick 440, and this will be the third motorcycle based on the same platform. New Harley 440 Motorcycle Coming In September Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson are tight-lipped about what the third model will be. It seems Harley will drive the sales in this space for both manufacturers, and a new 440 cc offering under the American manufacturer could expand its reach to a wider customer base. The Harley-Davidson X440 has fared better on the sales chart when compared to the Hero Mavrick 440, which was doing triple-digit volumes before being discontinued. Here's what each model costs Dealers recently stopped accepting bookings for the Hero Mavrick 440, making way for a more accessible modern-retro in the Hero-Harley lineup (HT Auto/Kunal Thale) Hero Mavrick 440 Pulled Off Shelves The Hero Mavrick 440, despite being a good motorcycle, couldn't drive up sales as expected, which is likely why the model's run was short-lived. In comparison, rivals like the Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, Bajaj Dominar 400, and the like have been doing far better numbers. Moreover, the Harley brand has a stronger recall value across multiple markets and holds a higher aspirational value. It'll be interesting to see what Hero and Harley bring together based on the 440 platform. The X440 turned out to be an impressive offering, while also being the brand's most accessible motorcycle globally. With the Mavrick being pulled off the shelves, Harley can bring a new offering lower down the order to take on the Triumph Speed T4 and Royal Enfield Hunter 350 in the modern-retro segment. Moreover, we could also see upgrades to the X440 with better styling and performance upgrades coming to the motorcycle. The Harley-Davidson X440 is sold via the Hero Premia dealerships, and expect the new offering to share space at the same outlets. Hero has about 100 Premia outlets across the country, and is expanding its premium retail chain. More details on Harley's plans will be available next month. Check out Upcoming Bikes In India. Hero Discontinues Mavrick 440, Draws Curtain On Its Most Premium Motorcycle In India

Hero MotoCorp has now pulled the plug on the Mavrick 440, the most premium motorcycle offered by the brand in the country. While many riders had positive reviews about the bike, the sales data claim that the roadster notched a single digital or zero sales from the past few months, probably one of the biggest reasons for the discontinuation. While the brand has not unlisted the motorcycle from the website, a few dealerships have stopped taking bookings for the Mavrick 440. Hero Mavrick 440 The Mavrick 440 was first launched in early 2024 and was a naked street bike based on the Harley-Davidson X440, which is also manufactured by Hero MotoCorp in India. Launched at a price tag of Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the bike was positioned as the most premium motorcycle by the brand. Talking about the specs, the Hero Mavrick 440 had a 440cc single-cylinder engine, mated with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch. It was capable of pushing out a peak power and torque output of 27 bhp at 6000rpm and 36 Nm at 4000 rpm.

Hero Mavrick 440 long term review

Model: Hero Mavrick 440 Top Test Started: September 2024/1,853kmCurrent ODO reading :2,705kmTotal mileage: 852km Overall efficiency: 30kmpl Our time with the Mavrick 440 has come to an end, so in this review, we shall give you a rundown of our experience with Hero's cruiser. Let's start with the performance of the 440cc, single-cylinder, air-oil cooled mill where the Mavrick impressed in some respects, but also left us wanting for more. As you start it up and get going, the motorcycle gives you an instant gush of torque that one would expect from a long-stroke engine. As the revs climb, the delivery of power remains linear but is accompanied by a loud growl of the exhaust that some may find bothersome. What is not bothersome, though, is the handling, because even after being a 187kg motorcycle, the Mavrick is easy to manoeuvre, especially when driven in traffic. That, along with general highway cruising at 80-100kmph is where the Mavrick feels at home, beyond which the cracks start to appear. Vibrations from the engine start becoming more pronounced at speeds of above 110kmph as if the engine is resisting your attempts to go faster. The 440cc, single-cylinder engine is quite powerful and torquey The next aspect is design, and this is where the Mavrick seems to be confused in its approach. The LED headlamps and fuel tank give the motorcycle a aggressive look, which does not does not seem to coincide with the design of the muffler and rear lights, which take a simpler approach. All in all, the Mavrick 440 is a step in the right direction for Hero, but the Indian automaker has not quite hit the perfect spot with this product yet. The Mavrick's fuel tank gives it a muscular and aggressive look.
