Suspects wanted for fleeing hit-and-run crash in San Bernardino County
Authorities are searching for two men who fled the scene of a crash that left a man injured in San Bernardino County. On April 29, authorities responded to the intersection of Apatite Avenue and Sequoia Street in Hesperia around 7:19 p.m. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was driving a Toyota Camry west on Sequoia Street when the suspects' oncoming Audi ran a stop sign and crashed into the victim's car. Both suspects jumped out of their car and fled the scene without stopping to check on the injured victim. The hit-and-run suspects were described by deputies as Hispanic males. Their images were captured by nearby surveillance cameras. Anyone who recognizes the men or has information on the crash is asked to call the Hesperia Police Department at 760-947-1500 or Sheriff's Dispatch at 760-956-5001. Convicted felon arrested after ghost gun, tactical armor found in San Bernardino County home
A convicted felon was arrested after deputies found a ghost gun, tactical gear, suspected narcotics and more at a San Bernardino County home. The suspect, Francisco Yzarraraz, 48, of Victorville, is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing ammunition and body armor, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. On March 13, deputies served a search warrant at Yzarraraz's home on the 12900 block of Claremore Street. During the search, investigators found a loaded homemade Polymer 80 pistol, several ammunition magazines, tactical body armor, miscellaneous ammunition, and a substantial amount of individually packed bags of suspected methamphetamine. Authorities also found digital scales with white powder residue and a large amount of stolen mail, credit cards and personal ID information that did not belong to Yzarraraz. Yzarraraz was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for: Possession of a controlled substance while armed Possession of a controlled substance for sale Felon in possession of a firearm Prohibited from owning ammunition Felon in possession of body armor Yzarraraz was previously convicted of robbery, authorities said. No further details were released as the case remains under investigation. Large cache of guns, drugs recovered from Hesperia home; 1 arrested
A Hesperia man pleaded not guilty to 19 felony charges this week after a law enforcement raid at his home turned up 16 guns, along with other illegal weapons, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, ecstasy and LSD, authorities said. Kaylo Ray Starostka, 37, appeared in San Bernardino County Superior Court on Monday, where he denied 14 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, along with one count each of being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drugs, possession of drugs for sales, possession of drugs while armed and possession of a suppressor, records show. He was arrested shortly before noon on Feb. 3, when deputies served a search warrant at his home in the 18400 block of Temecula Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. "During the service of the search warrant, deputies located 16 firearms, a large amount of ammunition, large capacity rifle magazines, three pairs of brass knuckles, five switch blades, and approximately 1.2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, ecstasy, and (LSD)," sheriff's officials said in a written statement. Bail was set at $500,000, records show. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 24 in the Victorville branch of San Bernardino County Superior Court.
