Hot Takes That Make Millennials Feel Old

If you've ever found yourself saying, "Damn, I feel old," you're not the only one. Reddit user GeneJenkinson recently asked Millennials, "What's your take that makes you sound ancient?" Here are the responses I found equal parts painful and hilarious: "I remember when Taco Bell's regular tacos were 25 cents each." "Music is too loud in bars, restaurants, and festivals." "Books are better for reading than tablets." "I don't want any smart devices in my home. No Alexa, no Siri, no, 'Hey Google.' I feel like if I stop doing those things myself, I'll become helpless eventually. I also don't want these devices listening to me and tracking my every move." "I refuse to spend money in places that don't accept cash. If I hand you a bill and you tell me no, I will leave." "A full-time job should be able to afford basic rent." "If I already took my bra off, I'm done for the day." "I don't want to scan the QR code to see the menu. And I hate AI." "I'm not downloading another app that I'm only going to use once." "Parking meter apps. I'm willing to pay for parking. Why do I have to download a special app for it? Can't I just swipe a card at a kiosk if nothing else?" "Any get-together that's at 8 p.m.-ish, I just don't have the energy in me to go. Can we do midday on Saturday?" "I don't think emojis have a place in workplace conversations, even if it's on an app made like a giant chatroom. 🔥🔥 Let's get going 🔥🔥 does not make me feel all fired up." "If concerts started around noon, I'd be more willing to go to them. When the opening act doesn't start until 7 p.m., that means the main act won't start until 8, and the concert won't end until 10 at the earliest. No thanks." "If there's a line to a hyped-up restaurant, I will not go. I will wait until the hype cools down, or I'll order food to go from that restaurant." "Having to have complex passwords for everything is annoying. Bonus points if you're required to update them every few weeks." "Kids' shoe prices are more expensive than adult shoe prices. Absolutely not. Bring back Payless!" "Apparently, I'm old because I don't think it's a smart move to go into debt for concert tickets." "Remotes should have buttons. Cars should have buttons and dials. Stop making everything touch controls." "Paying for all these individual streaming services makes me think we should bundle them all together so I don't have to think which app the thing I want to access is on. We could call it something catchy like cable." "20-ounce sodas were 99 damn cents! What are they like, three dollars now?!" "If you are texting or calling me after 9 p.m., there had better be an emergency, not this let's go pre-funk. I am old funk at this point." What's a millennial take that makes you sound ancient? Shark robot vacuum for 'amazing hands-free cleaning' now £369 off for Amazon Prime Day

'I'm actually really impressed with this robot. I've had a few over the years... this though is by far the best' Nobody likes hoovering, but what if the latest technology means we no longer have to? Investing in a robot vacuum cleaner could be a game-changer for those who hate housework, and one is currently £369 off on Amazon for Prime Day. The retail giant's annual sale event has brought us so many bargains that it's easy to miss some of the biggest deals available. One huge discount that may have passed you by so far is the Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop, which is now on a 53 per cent discount, slashing its price from £700 to £331. Homeowners will never have to hoover again with this automatic 30-day robot vacuum that empties itself. The high-tech gadget can even be customised via an app, using Amazon's Alexa or Hey Google to schedule cleans or set up no-go zones. Using 'PowerDetect Cleaning Technologies', this futuristic gadget automatically detects and reacts to dirt, edges and corners, targeting hidden debris and stains. Its product description claims the robot hoover is suitable for all floor types, and has a built-in mop, although only dry mopping is available. The robot empties debris into the 30-day-capacity dustbin and refills its own water tank for up to 30 days, washing and drying the pad after every clean. Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop £699.99 £331 Amazon Shop Product Description This 21st century cleaning assistant can map your home to bypass obstacles, and any no-go areas can be customised on its accompanying app. It can lift and lower itself over room thresholds and bumps in the carpet, ensuring it won't get suck in any one spot. Those browsing alternative robot cleaners may consider the E20 3-in-1 Robot Cordless Vacuum Cleaner on Argos, which is currently at its 'lowest price ever' of £279. Or, also on Argos, the Samsung Jet Bot+ Cordless Robot Vacuum Cleaner is currently on clearance for £525. But customers adore the discounted Shark vacuum from Amazon and it has gained a respected four star-rating out of a possible five. One happy shopper said: "I'm actually really impressed with this robot. I've had a few over the years, Roombas, Mops etc but they usually follow a random pattern, don't work well on the app and miss bits or get stuck at doorways etc. This though is by far the best. "We have four dogs, always in and out making mess, lots of hair and we run it on a schedule twice a day on a hoover and mop and then manually an extra Hoover only. (It can only schedule cleans twice a day). "It does great at picking up the dog hair then mopping and first hoovers the rooms with carpet with the mop detached." Another happy shopper said: "Fantastic addition to our house. We struggle with our golden retriever always shedding hair. We've got it setup to do a vacuum+mop in the early morning and then again at lunchtime. Makes such a difference now keep on top of it regularly. Best household appliance we've bought in a while!" But not everyone is so pleased with this product, as one less satisfied customer said: "Returning due to poor performance. App was difficult to set up and crashes multiple times. Unable to [divide] small rooms. Not cleaning floors as they remain dirty it after multiple cleans. "Does not clean edges which was the main selling point for me." Yet another happy shopper said: "Amazing, hands free cleaning!!! Highly recommend." The discounted vacuum robot is available on Amazon for Prime Day. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! What the Tech: Tech for extra paychecks

If you're paid every two weeks, a few times a year, you'll notice something nice, a third paycheck in a single month. It's not technically 'extra' money—it's part of your regular salary. But if you budget around two checks per month, that third one can feel like a mini bonus. Instead of letting it slip away on impulse purchases, here are some smart tech upgrades that can make your life more efficient, secure, and even healthier. Still using a thermostat from the early 2000s? A smart thermostat could lower your monthly utility bill while giving you more control. You can adjust the temperature from your smartphone, or just tell your voice assistant, whether that's Alexa, Siri, or Hey Google. Many smart thermostats even learn your schedule and adjust automatically when you leave or return home. Just make sure it's compatible with your HVAC system and preferred smart home setup. One of the best tech upgrades under $50. A Wi-Fi-enabled garage door opener lets you open or close the door from your phone—great for letting in guests or Amazon deliveries when you're not home. Some models even let drivers open the door for secure drop-offs and then close it again. Affordable, simple, and super convenient. I've found it to be helpful in an emergency when someone needs access to the garage when I'm not home. I just open the app to open the door. If you're feeling wrist or forearm pain from long days at the computer, an ergonomic mouse can help. These are designed to keep your hand in a more natural position, easing pressure and reducing the risk of repetitive strain injuries. There's no one-size-fits-all design, so try out a few styles before settling on one. You can find them at most any electronics or office supply store. Pollen, dust, and pet dander can make it tough to concentrate or breathe. A desktop air purifier helps clean the air around your workspace. Many now work with smartphone apps or voice assistants and can automatically adjust based on air quality levels. Still using the router your internet provider gave you years ago? A new dual-band or mesh Wi-Fi system can dramatically improve your home internet. Better coverage, faster speeds, and fewer dead zones can make a huge difference if you're streaming, gaming, or working from home. And if it's been quite a while since you've upgraded, a Wi-Fi 7 router also offers much better security to protect your home internet and devices. When that third paycheck shows up, invest it in tech that makes your everyday life better, and you'll thank yourself later. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
