Shannon Leishman will leave Hibernian Women this summer after over a decade of service
Shannon Leishman will leave Hibernian Women this summer after over a decade of service with the Club. A lifelong Hibs fan and an Academy graduate, Leishman bids farewell to Hibs after 11 successful years and over 150 appearances in Green and White. A Musselburgh native, 'Leishy' spent much of her childhood at Easter Road cheering on Hibs from the Famous Five Stand while moulding her own pathway to becoming a professional footballer. Leishman began training with the First Team at Hibs Women prior to turning 16 years old, before making her senior debut in 2014 against Rangers. A dedicated professional and consistent performer, Leishman has appeared 171 times for the Club, scoring 11 goals, and has won four domestic cups with the Club. The 28-year-old has also played UEFA Women's Champions League football with her childhood club. Making her continental debut in a 5-0 win over Swansea City in August 2017, Leishy would go on to perform in Europe at her beloved Easter Road on multiple occasions. Leishman also departs with a league winners' medal after making nine appearances for Hibs before spending the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Motherwell, where she helped guide the K-Park club to their first-ever Top Six finish and the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals. On Leishman's departure, Hibs Women head coach Grant Scott said: 'Shannon has been a dedicated servant to Hibernian over the past 11 years. 'Coming through our Academy, Shannon has from a young age always set an example for others to follow and her commitment to being the ultimate professional has helped us to many successes over the years. 'More than all of that, she's a great person whose presence will be missed. We thank her for her contributions and wish her all the best for the future.' She leaves Meadowbank Stadium with the best wishes of everybody at Hibernian FC, and the Club would like to place on record its immense gratitude for her outstanding service and commitment to the Club. Hibs SWPL title triumph built on key quality shared with SPFL comeback kings

Even if different training schedules keep in-depth interaction to a minimum, Grant Scott and David Gray have spent enough time together to appreciate the priceless values that unite them in their efforts to tilt at financial behemoths. Few in the Hibernian family would have been happier, then, to see Scott's underdogs claim their first SWPL title than first-year head coach Gray. At the end of a season when his own boys went from relegation fodder to Best of the Rest behind Scotland's big two, the former Scottish Cup winning captain understands the significance of a genuine against-the-odds triumph by Hibs Women. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Emphasising the one core principle shared by both of the senior teams operating on a sort of timeshare system out at Hibernian Training Centre, Gray acknowledged that the constantly evolving economics of the women's game in Scotland should have given Scott's group little to no chance of finishing top of the pile. Which makes winning a first title since 2007 all the more remarkable. 'That's true, 100% when you think about the challenges now in the women's game,' said Gray, the gaffer adding: 'Just look at the power and money involved. 'It's great to see actually the finances and the backing that's moving the game forward. That's the big thing. It's developing all the time; it's improving year on year at a real rate - and I think that's something that will keep progressing. 'So right from the start Grant's definitely been up against it. He did so well even to get close, given the way the game is - but he always seemed quietly confident that they could get the job done. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'The one thing I've heard Grant speak a lot about is the togetherness in that group. You can see that when the players are around the training ground, what a great team spirit they have. 'You know, it's something I've spoken about building in my group. When I look at what Grant has done with that group of players, it's something money can't buy. 'And that togetherness doesn't happen by accident. You need to have good people in the building. Grant understands that – and he's made it happen.' Until Hibs build their new first team-only training centre and indoor pitch out at East Mains, the existing training ground will continue to be a busy place. Too busy to meet the demands of every team. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Which is why Hibs Women moved to afternoon training this season. The men are long gone by the time Scott's squad arrive for their 2 pm start, meaning they've effectively got the run of the place – and all the facilities that go with it. An imperfect solution, it doesn't seem to have held Hibs back, does it? Gray has enjoyed ringside seat for Scott's glory season Scott and his coaching team of Stewart Hall and Joelle Murray are, of course, in the building much earlier. They've got an office just along the hall from Gray's inner sanctum and, as a general rule, the door is always open. Gray has enjoyed being so close to Scott's group, geographically. If nothing else, it's provided him with a ringside seat as they've pulled off one of the great shocks in the history of women's football here in Scotland. 'It's actually been really good this season bringing the whole club together into the one building at the same time,' said Gray, the 37-year-old adding: 'I know it's not at the same time as in operating all day at the same time - but just being here together is really helpful. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad All in this together 'I speak to Joelle a lot and I feel that we're all in this together. This is one club, we're all moving forward and it's great to see everybody doing well and. 'You can add the under-18s into that as well. Them winning the league, it shows there is this real feelgood factor right through the club at the minute. 'Add a little bit of what we're doing, and the way the fans have been this season. And it's a real positive place to be, isn't it?' Two of the most even tempered folk in football, it's hardly a surprise to find that Gray and Scott see each other as kindred spirits. Both are reserved, in their own way. But that does NOT mean they don't absolutely burn with a need to win. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'First up, I think he's done a fantastic job, regardless of the end result in the league,' said Gray. 'Clearly that shows in everything he's done. 'He's quite a reserved character around the building every day and he goes about his business very professionally. That's something that I've noticed. And he's very organised. 'I've got loads of respect for what he's done this season. He's done a brilliant job here for a number of seasons now, since coming back to the club, to be honest. 'He's full of desire to go and win. And he'll be the first one to say that it's always about the team behind the team, because he knows what goes on in that coaching room through there.'

Hibs complete mission impossible as they cement themselves as SWPL champions
There was a historic title win for Hibs Women on Sunday afternoon. Sign up to our Hibs football newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... Hibs have claimed the SWPL title against the odds after a historic 1-0 victory over Rangers at Ibrox. Despite facing a number of clubs with sizeable budgets, Grant Scott has been able to lead Hibs to their first title since 2007 after a gritty and determined final day display saw them over the line and set off exuberant celebrations amongst the travelling supporters. With Sunday's opponents still in contention to win the title, Hibs held their nerve and their narrow win over Rangers rendered Glasgow City's home win against Hearts meant little. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad After a tight and nervy opening 45 minutes at Ibrox that brought few chances for either side, Scott's side were the first to create a genuine chance as Kirsten Reilly struck the crossbar with a stunning long-range effort nine minutes after the restart. However, there would be no denying Hibs with quarter of an hour remaining as they broke the deadlock and took one giant step towards a hard-earned title win. Hibs earn SWPL title acclaim Taylor was the goalscorer as the centre-back strode downfield after breaking up an attacking from the hosts and got on the end of a Kathleen McGovern cross before expertly converting beyond Rangers goalkeeper Jenna Fife. That set off a desperate attempt to get back into the game from Rangers but Taylor proved her effectiveness in a more natural area of the pitch as the Hibs skipper and her defensive team-mates held firm to ensure they were crowned as SPFL champions and secured a spot in Europe next season. Speaking before the game, Scott said: "I think we have to just be really conscious of what we have achieved. We've added a ridiculous extra number of points on last season's total and we're going to go in the title race to the last day of the season. Two, three, four, five years back we might we would have been miles from that. So, I think we have to remember where we are, where we've been, where we've came from even 12 months ago. Most of the post-split fixtures didn't mean anything to us at that point, we were just playing the games as best we could. "To have this now is a remarkable achievement whatever happens come Sunday but obviously we want to go that one extra now and try and get some success."

How to watch Rangers and Hibs Women: Live stream, TV channel and team news for SWPL title showdown
The two sides will go face to face at Ibrox on the final day to decide who lifts the crown The Scottish Women's Premie League is the envy of Europe this weekend as the title race goes down to the wire. While the men's Premiership winner was decided weeks ago - Rangers and Hibs Women head into a straight shootout at Ibrox on Sunday. The Edinburgh league leaders need only a point to secure their first title for 18 years. But a Rangers victory in front of their own fans will land them the title given their vastly superior goal difference. They will be boosted by the fact they thumped Hibs 5-0 in the Sky Sports Cup final in March. Glasgow City are out of the race - they can go level on points, but Gers boast a better goal difference by 26 goals. There were no signs of any nerves as Hibs thumped champions Celtic with a 4-2 win at Meadowbank last night. Goals from Ciara Grant and a brace from the Kathleen McGovern had them 3-0 up after just 25 minutes. Saoirse Noonan pulled one back before the break. But Eilidh Adams added Hibs' fourth before a late consolation from Bruna Lourenco. Celtic are now 15 points off the league leaders after Potter's Gers side beat Hearts 5-3. They were leading 5-1 before allowing their concentration to slip in the latter stages. Gers found themselves in the same position two seasons back when they hosted City on the final day, with the Petershill side nicking the title with almost the very last kick of the ball. City dumped Motherwell 2-1, with Brenna Lovera netting a late penalty to give them all three points. Leanne Ross' side will now turn their full attention to next weekend's Scottish Cup final — when they play Rangers at Hampden — as they look to end the season with silverware.
