Libya pushes forward with continental trade link The High Committee for the Libya Africa Transit Corridors Project has approved the scope of work for an upcoming consultancy tender, marking a key milestone in the preparatory phase of this strategic infrastructure initiative. According to a press release shared with Libyan Express , the Committee held its sixth regular meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the Railway Project Implementation and Management Agency. The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of previous recommendations, assessing updates from sectoral subcommittees, and advancing preparations in line with Cabinet Resolution No. 535 of 2024. During the session, the Committee reviewed and formally adopted the final report submitted by the First Subcommittee, which had been tasked with collecting technical data and drafting the scope of work for the consultancy firm that will undertake the project's comprehensive economic feasibility study. The approval followed a discussion of the report's contents and the incorporation of feedback from committee members. The Committee also emphasised the importance of receiving the final report from the Second Subcommittee, which is responsible for evaluating and proposing the most viable corridor routes. The completion of this report is considered a prerequisite for launching the international tender process to select a qualified consultancy firm. The Libya Africa Transit Corridors Project aims to strengthen Libya's internal infrastructure, improve connectivity with sub-Saharan Africa, and support cross-border trade. The project is positioned to enhance Libya's role as a regional logistics hub and facilitate the movement of goods across the continent. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining oversight and ensuring the project proceeds according to the approved timeline. MRSM Betong's Muafakat committee retains leadership in 16th AGM

The newly-reappointed High Committee of Muafakat MRSM Betong for the 2025-2027 session. MIRI (May 30): Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Betong recently held its 16th annual general meeting (AGM), marking a key milestone for its parent-teacher association (PTA). One of the main agenda items was the dissolution of the 2023-2025 Muafakat High Committee, paving the way for the election and appointment of a new committee for the 2025 – 2027 term. Henry Jugah was reappointed as president for a third consecutive term, receiving unanimous support from Muafakat members. Rahynold Rehengia Gagat also retained his position as vice president, while Emparie Tom, Edris Seman, Rajus Seli, and Nurlinda Kamaruddin continued in their roles as committee members. The High Committee expressed their sincere gratitude for the reappointment and the trust placed in them. 'I extend my deepest thanks to the parents and teachers of MRSM Betong for once again entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as president of Muafakat MRSM Betong for a third term,' said Henry. He pledged to continue efforts toward academic excellence at MRSM Betong, particularly in helping students achieve outstanding results in this year's Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, with a goal of raising the school's Maktab Average Grade (GPM). The Prime Minister emphasised the critical role of these boards in leading strategic direction, ensuring transparency and accountability, and assessing institutional financial risks. He also called for stronger coordination between the boards, government entities, and the private sector to advance financial and developmental policies that support Iraq's economic growth. Sana'a - Saba: Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, a member of the Supreme Political Council, received the shield of the third "Palestine: The Central Cause of the Nation" conference, which was held in Sana'a at the end of Ramadan 1446 AH. The shield was presented during his meeting today with the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Conference's High Committee, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, who handed it over alongside the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Dr. Abdulrahim Al-Hamran, his deputy Dr. Ahmed Al-Arami, and the Assistant Director of the Prime Minister's Office and High Committee member, Taha Al-Sufiani, in recognition of his role in the success of the conference. Parliamentary Culture Committee Unveils Joint Plans to Attract Arab Tourists to Iraq

Baghdad-INA The Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Tourism, and Media announced on Friday that it has developed joint plans to leverage the Arab Summit to attract Arab tourists to Iraq. Committee member MP Sameaa Al-Ghalab told The Iraqi News Agency-INA, "The committee continues to coordinate with the Prime Minister's Office and the High Committee for the Baghdad – Arab Capital of Tourism initiative, with the goal of ensuring the success of the Arab Summit, which will present a civilized image of Iraq to Arab and international delegations." She added that "the committee has developed joint plans and programs in cooperation with executive bodies, particularly the High Committee, the Prime Minister's Advisor for Tourism Affairs, and the Tourism Authority, to make Iraq—and Baghdad in particular—a main destination for tourists." Al-Ghalab pointed out that "development projects are currently underway at a number of archaeological and touristic sites, including upgrades to services that enhance aesthetic appeal and meet visitors' needs." She emphasized that "the committee has spared no effort in closely following all aspects of this file." She further explained that "the goal of these efforts is to deliver a clear message to the peoples of the world: Iraq remains proud and resilient, the cradle of ancient civilizations, and is reclaiming its standing through the Arab Summit and the events of Baghdad as the Arab Capital of Tourism."
