2026 Chevrolet Traverse Review: Expert Insights, Pricing, and Trims
At home at the (warehouse) club or off the grid, the 2026 Traverse is Chevrolet's 3-row SUV with a base price under $50,000. The baby Tahoe-looking model was redesigned for 2024 with chunkier styling and originally joined the Chevrolet lineup for 2009. The ute made its bones as a roomy conveyance that trades the capability of the Tahoe and Suburban for greater affordability, a tradition it continues today. Competitors include the Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, and Hyundai Palisade. What's New Changes to the 2026 Traverse include: Polar White Tricoat and Sandstone Gray exterior colors Driver Confidence package gains key card. This physical card gives users access to the SUV and allows them to start it, like a similar card that comes with Teslas. For the Traverse LT, a rear camera mirror is available through the Driver Confidence package Iridescent Pearl Tricoat and Harvest Bronze Metallic exterior hues have been retired What We Think This 2026 Chevrolet Traverse brings meaningful upgrades over its predecessor, including a turbocharged engine that delivers more output than the outgoing V-6. Although fuel economy sees little improvement, the new powertrain offers better drivability and quicker acceleration. Inside, the Traverse features large displays and updated safety tech, and although the cabin design is conservative, its controls are intuitive and user-friendly. The off-road-oriented Z71 and the premium High Country trim add more variety to the 2026 Traverse range. However, the absence of a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option is a missed opportunity to compete with the Toyota Grand Highlander and Hyundai Palisade. Still, with its bold styling and improved performance, the Traverse is well positioned to compete in the crowded 3-row SUV segment. Top-Ranked Competitors: Hyundai Palisade Kia Telluride Honda Pilot Mazda CX-90 Performance The Traverse's 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine carries over into 2026 producing 315 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Output is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and models are offered with standard FWD or available AWD. Towing capacity is pegged at 5,000 pounds. Accelerating to 60 mph should take roughly 7.0 seconds. MPGs and Range Fuel economy ratings come in at 20/27 mpg city/highway with FWD and 19/24 mpg with AWD. Curiously, driving range is better for the AWD model, but that's because it comes with a larger 21.7-gallon fuel tank. Range is 456 miles, while the FWD with its 19.4-gallon reservoir can go only 446 miles. The 2025 Telluride is both less efficient and comes with a smaller 18.8-gallon tank. Fuel economy ratings are 20/26 mpg city/highway with FWD and 18/23 mpg with AWD, while driving ranges are 414 miles and 376 miles, respectively. Safety Ratings and Features The Traverse performs well in safety testing: 2025 IIHS Top Safety Pick NHTSA 5-star overall rating Standard driver assist features include: Forward and reverse automatic emergency braking Adaptive cruise control Blind-spot monitoring Lane keeping Auto high-beams Cargo Space and Interior Room The Traverse boasts a spacious interior with room for up to eight passengers and a big cargo hold. The Telluride and Pilot deliver a skosh more legroom in the second and third rows, respectively. Technology Infotainment An 11.0-inch display sits before the driver, while infotainment is controlled through a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google integration. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Chevy also includes a wireless phone charger and a half dozen USB ports throughout the cabin, and a 120-volt outlet is available. Sound System Base models feature a six-speaker setup. The Bose 12-speaker upgrade comes with a subwoofer. Available Upgrades Super Cruise self-driving technology is offered through the Enhanced Driving package that's available for LT and Z71, and standard on the High Country and RS. The suite also adds Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, Driver Attention Assist, and an audio system upgrade. Value Think of the 2026 Traverse as a less premium GMC Acadia, with the same strong powertrain and roomy cabin. Standard features are not as plentiful, and fuel economy could be better for both, but the Chevrolet SUV is redeemed by its practical interior and lower prices. Recommended Trim Our pick in the Chevrolet Traverse lineup is the LT model with AWD, which emphasizes practical essentials. It comes equipped with a hands-free power tailgate, second-row captain's chairs, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support.

I drove the $55,000 Chevrolet Traverse. It's a roomy family SUV with cool tech that's held back by a noisy engine
The Michigan-made Chevy Traverse starts at $40,700. My range-topping Traverse High Country test car starts at $53,800 in front wheel drive guise. Shipping fees pushed the as-tested price for my High Country FWD to $55,295. The Traverse is handsomely styled with design elements inspired by Chevrolet's Silverado pickup. Like other recently introduced Chevy SUVs, the Traverse draws upon the brand's popular pickup trucks for its rugged, squared off looks. It's a much welcome departure from the previous generation's rounded, less defined aesthetic. At 17 feet long and 6.6 feet wide, the Traverse is one of the largest offerings in the segment. It's three inches longer and 1.5 inches wider than the Grand Highlander and four inches longer and 1.5 inches wider than the Pilot. Chevy's new turbo four produces a stout 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful standard engines in the segment. The four-cylinder offers a modest 18 horsepower improvement over the outgoing V6 and a significant 60 additional lb-ft of torque. My front wheel drive test car boasts EPA fuel economy rating of 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, which is a 2 mpg improvement over the comparable previous generation Traverse with a V6. The Traverse's driving experience was spoiled by excessive engine noise and a drivetrain tuned to save fuel. The Traverse has the potential to be a pleasant driving family SUV. Sadly, the big Chevy is let down by the way its drivetrain is tuned. A big reason for downsizing from the V6 to the turbo four was to take advantage of its superior fuel economy, but there's also the added benefit produced by forced induction engines. Unfortunately, the Traverse's drivetrain prioritizes efficiency and doesn't really let the punchy motor shine. In its default "Tour" driving mode, the throttle feels laggy and slow to respond. There's often an unnerving delay between the time you step on the gas and the arrival of power. Things are a bit more responsive in sport mode, but still far from "sporty." According to Car and Driver, the turbo Traverse can do 0-60 in a respectable 7.3 seconds, which is half a second slower than the old V6-powered version. And then there's the engine noise. Under hard acceleration, the decided lack of sound-deadening material means the pint-size powerplant makes an unacceptably harsh racket. Even when cruising along, a disconcerting amount of engine noise manages to find its way into the cabin. The Traverse's cabin is roomy and attractively designed, but is plagued by poor material and build quailty. Climb inside the Traverse and you'll find a modern and extremely spacious cabin. Ergonomics are solid and almost all of the controls and button are where they should be with the only glaring exception being the drive mode selector buried on a panel low down between the steering wheel and driver's door. My biggest gripe with the cabin is the lackluster material and build quality. The plastics used in the front dash and center console look and feel cheap. In addition, the pieces also don't feel very well put together. Lightly nudge the center console, and visible gaps appear in the seams where the various sections are clipped together. The two sections that comprise the front and rear of the housing for the large infotainment screen pinch easily and feel like they're a broken plastic clip away from separating. The Traverse's suite of driver assistance and infotainment tech is truly impressive. The massive 17.7-inch central infotainment touchscreen and 11-inch digital instrument display are not only impressive to look at but the Google-based infotainment system is also highly responsive and easy to navigate. In addition to the standard driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, the Traverse can also be optioned with GM's outstanding Super Cruise system, which allows for hands-free highway driving. The Traverse comes standard with second-row captain's chairs, although lower trims can be had with a bench seat as well. The heated Sky Cool Gray leather captain's chairs were comfortable and stylish. The Traverse's third row is quite possibly the roomiest I've come across and could actually be comfortable for the average adult. Beyond the impressive 32.1 inches of legroom, the seats are also mounted high enough so that your knees are not pushing up against your chest. With 22.9 cubic feet behind the third row seats, the Traverse is one of the best cargo haulers in the segment. My verdict: The Chevrolet Traverse is rough around the edges but remains a compelling family SUV with cool tech, a cavernous interior, and delivers solid value. Chevy's family hauler comes with loads of advanced assistance and infotainment tech, a punchy turbo engine, room for the whole family and all of their stuff, as well as cool pickup-truck styling. In addition, the $40,000 starting price and extensive array of standard features make it a solid value proposition. But the Traverse still needs extra sound insulation, some drivetrain tuning, and a higher-quality interior.

Colorado police arrest suspect accused of starting Meadow Creek Fire in Frisco
One person has been arrested in connection with a wildfire that broke out in Colorado's High Country this weekend. On Saturday evening, the Frisco Police Department arrested a person they believe caused the Meadow Creek Fire, which burned around 6.3 acres of Town of Frisco open space. Authorities said they don't believe the person is from the area. The suspect reportedly remains in custody, and officials said the case will now go to the 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office. default Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District Summit County Dispatch received a 911 call around 5 p.m. Saturday to report the wildfire, which broke out on public land between Wildflower Lane, Meadow Drive, Whole Foods and I-70. The wildfire temporarily caused the closure of I-70 as crews worked to bring it under control. Roughly 30 firefighters from Summit Fire and Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District responded to keep the fire from spreading to the highway, the Whole Foods, and a nearby neighborhood. No injuries or structural damage were reported. Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District "The fire burned approximately 6.3 acres of Town of Frisco open space, which are largely part of the Meadow Creek conservation easement," said town officials. "This 10.88-acre conservation easement was designated in 2020 and includes wetlands with primarily willows and an adjacent riparian area and floodplain buffer."

Shopping for a 2025 Chevrolet Suburban? Here's What Experts Say You Should Look At Instead
Business Shopping for a 2025 Chevrolet Suburban? Here's What Experts Say You Should Look At Instead It is America's oldest SUV, one that's been schlepping people and their lifestyle debris since 1935, five years before the first Jeep. Now entering its 90th year, the Chevrolet Suburban rules the roost for three-row, nine-passenger SUVs. Its tech is up-to-date, its towing capacity is strong, and its ability to comfort and coddle is surprising. And for 2025, it receives design updates, upgraded tech, and a more powerful diesel engine. 1935 Chevrolet Suburban Chevrolet Chevrolet The Suburban is basically a stretched Tahoe, with a longer wheelbase and overall length. Measuring some 226 inches long, 81 inches wide, and 76 inches tall, riding on a 134-inch wheelbase, the Suburban boasts 180 cubic feet of passenger space and anywhere from 42 to 145 cubic feet of cargo space. Payload is rated at up to 1,759 pounds, depending on what resides under the hood. Twenty-four-inch wheels are a new option. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban High Country Chevrolet Chevrolet The revamped interior is welcome, with a redesigned instrument panel that features an 11-inch driver instrument cluster and 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless smartphone charger. A rear-seat entertainment system is optional. All three rows offer good legroom, and the low cargo area floor makes loading items easier than its competition. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban High Country Chevrolet Chevrolet Offered in LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier and High Country trim, the standard engine is a 5.3-liter overhead-valve V8 rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Other engine choices include a 6.2-liter overhead-valve V8 producing a healthy 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, or a turbocharged 3.0-liter double-overhead cam inline six diesel engine rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission is standard, with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban High Country Chevrolet Chevrolet Towing is rated at 7,500-7,700 pounds with the 5.3-liter, 7,400-7,500 pounds with the 6.2-liter, and 7,800-8,100 pounds with the turbo-diesel. A Max Trailering package is optional and includes a high-capacity radiator and cooling fan, an integrated trailer brake controller, Hitch View, Hill Descent Control, Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering, and the Chevrolet Trailering App. Ground clearance is 8 inches unless you pop for the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, optional on the RST, Z71, and High Country, which increases it to a maximum of 10.6 inches. Premier and High Country trims also get standard Magnetic Ride Control, which lends them a far better ride than you'd ever suspect. In fact, the Suburban handles better than its rivals, being far easier to handle. Still, as good as the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban is, you might wonder what the competition offers. 2025 Chevrolet Suburban Chevrolet Chevrolet Ford Expedition Max 2025 Ford Expedition Max Ford Ford Excuse us if the unfortunately named Expedition Max sounds like a plus-size name – and not in a good way. Still, it's fitting, as the Expedition Max is an Expedition that's taken a swig of Miracle-Gro. Its 132-inch wheelbase, 222-inch length, and 80-inch width are slightly smaller than the Chevy's, but still sizable. There's 172 cubic feet of passenger volume and 34 to 122 cubic feet of cargo volume. Payload capacity trails as well, maxing out at 1,600 pounds. But it is roomy in all three rows, and even though it gives up a few cubic feet to the Chevrolet, it remains a commodious cabin. Its instrument panel features a 24-inch instrument display and a 13.2-inch center-mounted touchscreen that incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and built-in Google software. 2025 Ford Expedition Max Ford Ford Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 produces 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Opting for the Stealth Performance Package pumps that up to 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque on regular unleaded gasoline. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Towing ranges from 6,000 pounds to 9,000 pounds with the optional Heavy-Duty Trailer Towing Package. Ground clearance is 8.7 inches. Then there's the Stealth Performance Package that adds a sport-tuned suspension, dual exhaust, a revised final-drive ratio, 22-inch wheels, red brake calipers, a 22-speaker B&O audio system, panoramic roof, and a lot of blackout trim. An electronically limited-slip rear differential and adaptive dampers are optional. While this may transform the Expedition Max into a speedy straight-line runner, there's just too much mass to make this any kind of cornering champion. Comfy cruising is more its forte, but you knew that, right? Jeep Wagoneer L 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L Carbide Jeep Jeep Boasting a $3,000 price reduction for 2025, the Jeep Wagoneer L's starting price is now a couple of hundred dollars less than the Suburban and a couple of grand less than the Expedition Max. While its 130-inch wheelbase is the shortest one here, the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L is the largest of the SUVs here, measuring a substantial 227 inches long, 84 inches wide, and 79 inches tall. Despite the slightly larger overall size, the Wagoneer L trails the Suburban with 179 cubic feet of passenger space and 42-to-131 cubic feet of cargo space. But make no mistake, the differences are minor. There's still a whole mess of space inside, with spacious accommodations in all three rows. The instrument panel features a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen for the front seat passenger. The system comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, Amazon FireTV, Alexa, and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L Series III Jeep Jeep Power comes from a 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder powerplant that provides 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive or full-time four-wheel drive with a single-speed transfer case. Payload is rated at 1,330 to 1,550 pounds, depending on model and drive system. Towing is rated at 5,870 to 10,000 pounds, depending on drive system and axle ratio. A Quadra-lift air suspension with semi-active damping and a solid or hollow stabilizer bar is optional. Ground clearance is 8.3 inches with the standard suspension or 10.7 inches with the air suspension. Despite its supple, soft ride, particularly with the air suspension, the Wagoneer proves easier to maneuver than you'd expect. Steering is perfectly weighted, although coming to a halt does take time, but it's always controllable and fairly prompt. It's a surprisingly competitive package against the Chevy. Final thoughts Overall, we still like the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban, but the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L proves to be strong competition. Then again, so does the 2025 Ford Expedition L, particularly with the Stealth Performance Package. Each makes a compelling case, and we would encourage you to try all three before settling on the Suburban. With any of these, however, be careful if you opt for a high trim level, as they get close in price to tonier corporate cousins that, especially in the case of the Jeep, offer a notable upgrade in performance. Riccarton mud bath avoided as racing bosses get flexible
Punters who bet into the meeting before the switch have had those bets refunded and the meeting was re-opened for betting with scratchings put back into the fields on Thursday night. What punters end up with is a meeting certain to go ahead while the trainers chasing valuable black type with their two-year-olds in the Champagne Stakes at least know they will have a fairer surface. The Champagne Stakes remaining black type had to be approved by the Pattern Committee, the group charged with maintaining the quality of New Zealand black type racing. 'The switch to the synthetic has to be a good move because I don't think punters enjoy seeing horses trying to handle a Heavy 10 if they don't have to,' says Cambridge trainer Tony Pike, who has Lucy In The Sky in the feature. 'Sure, it probably helps our filly because I was worried about the very heavy track but in reality we would have struggled to even run the whole meeting on the turf. 'Taking my horse out of it I see no issues running a black type race on a synthetic track. You wouldn't do it every week but I think all round the right decisions have been made for the industry.' Lucy In The Sky comes out of the Group 1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie last start so drops enormously in grade today and while her $2.50 price last night wasn't enormous overs she could close significantly shorter today. Pike has a team of eight at Te Rapa today too and is confident of starting the day with a winner, he just doesn't know which horse. 'I think I can win Race 1 but I am not sure who is the better chance out of High Country or Poetic Justice,' he says. With the pair at boosted odds of $6.50 and $5.50 respectively smart punters looking for an early TAB account bump could do worse than backing them both. The Te Rapa meeting also holds a black type juvenile race as those opportunities start to run dry for the babies but it has a far more even feel, with a Karaka Millions runner like Toretto against those who have emerged over the autumn. Across the Tasman there will be Kiwi flavour at both Eagle Farm (Queensland) and Morphettville (South Australia), with Cambridge trainer Stephen Marsh having runners at both. Marsh has Roctave (R8, No.10) in the A$1million South Australian Derby while Tardelli, who was narrowly beaten against the older horses in the Easter at Ellerslie last start, contests the A$350,000 Queensland Guineas with Michael McNab to ride.
