Higher Education Sector begins review of Yemeni University annual reports

Sana'a – Saba: The Higher Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research on Saturday commenced its annual meeting to present and discuss the performance reports of Yemeni universities and colleges for the academic year 2023-2024. Over the next two weeks, the sector will review achievement levels in the annual reports of both public and private universities and community colleges. Meetings will be held with university and college presidents to discuss their reports and the provided data. The first session involved the review of the Emirates International University's annual report, presented by its leadership. The report detailed the university's operational achievements, developments in academic, administrative, and research areas, infrastructure expansion, challenges, and proposed solutions. Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi emphasized the importance of this process for assessing performance, identifying shortcomings, and improving the quality of higher education. He stressed the need for transparency and accurate data. Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, stated that reviewing all university reports is crucial for evaluation and understanding their achievements and challenges. He noted that this process would inform the national classification of universities and highlighted the complementary role of private institutions. Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, underscored the significance of these reports for the National University Classification Project. Dr. Ilham Al-Sanabani, Vice Chair of the review committee, outlined the evaluation themes used for the fifth consecutive year, including strategic planning, student statistics, faculty, finances, quality management, research, and community services. Education Minister inspects higher education sector on first day of work

Sana'a - Saba: Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi inspected on Saturday the level of job discipline in a number of departments in the Higher Education and Scientific Research sector on the first day of work following Eid Al-Fitr vacation. The Education Minister , along with the Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, reviewed the workflow and the level of commitment of employees to work after the Eid vacation, and listened to an explanation from the Director of Human Resources about the attendance rate on the first day of work, which reached 94 percent. Minister Al-Saadi praised the level of discipline of the ministry's employees after the Eid vacation, and their keenness to simplify procedures and provide services to citizens. He emphasized that continuing to perform job duties is one of the forms of steadfastness in the face of the aggression that sought to disrupt state institutions. Stand at University of September 21 in Solidarity with Palestine, Condemning Israeli Crimes in Gaza

Sana'a - Saba: The members of the University of September 21 for Medical and Applied Sciences organized a solidarity stand with the Palestinian people, condemning the genocide committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza. The event was attended by several officials, including the Deputy Minister of Education, the Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, and university leaders, who denounced the occupation's violations of the ceasefire and its massacres against civilians, especially women and children. The participants reaffirmed their full solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to resist the occupation until their rights are achieved, including the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. They called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop Israeli crimes and hold the occupation accountable for its violations. They also called for enhancing awareness of the Palestinian cause in educational curricula and scientific conferences and urged Arab and Islamic nations to take more effective stances in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people and rejecting normalization with the occupation. They reaffirmed that Palestine remains the foremost cause of the nation and that supporting it is a duty that cannot be abandoned until victory is achieved.
