Margao: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday emphasised teachers' crucial role in shaping students' career paths. 'One-on-one student interaction will benefit both the students and our state, helping Goa achieve its Viksit Goa 2037 goals in line with PM Modi's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision,' Sawant said. He also said that the Goa Apprenticeship Scheme , implemented last year, is a success and highlighted its role in fostering a productive work culture across the state. Speaking at an event organised by the Higher Secondary School Teachers Association of Goa , Sawant noted that the scheme generated an impressive workforce of 50,000 apprentices in both govt and private sectors working 'sincerely'. 'The apprentices demonstrated exceptional dedication, often surpassing the performance of regular employees,' Sawant said. 'I am confident that once these apprentices get absorbed into permanent govt employment, they will maintain their commendable work ethic.' The Goa Apprenticeship Scheme, a state govt initiative, was designed to develop a skilled workforce while creating opportunities for lateral entry into both private and govt sectors. The scheme has received positive feedback from stakeholders since its inception. He stressed the importance of staying updated on new educational courses available in the state and understanding market demands to help bridge the skills gap. Sawant also encouraged teachers to familiarise themselves with emerging courses and their potential impact on employment opportunities. This knowledge, he suggested, would enable teachers to better guide students toward careers that align with both their interests and market needs.
