New Minas, N.S., home destroyed by early-morning fire

A man and a dog are both uninjured after a house fire in Nova Scotia's Kings County early Wednesday morning.
The fire happened on Highland Avenue in New Minas before 5 a.m.
The single-storey home was fully engulfed and flames were shooting out of the roof when officials arrived.
A 68-year-old man, who was the only person inside the home, escaped with his dog.
Officials say the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
