Flight disruption at Scots airport due to adverse weather
A departure from Stornoway to Inverness was also cancelled, but by the afternoon some flights had been resumed.
Adverse weather has sparked travel disruption at a Scots airport with delays and cancellations.
Due to high winds Highlands and Islands Airports who manage Stornoway Airport in the Hebrides had to cancel a number of arrivals and departures on August 12.
A 7am flight from Glasgow was forced to make a U-turn and head back to the mainland after circling around the airport on the Isle of Lewis but unable to land.
A departure from Stornoway to Inverness was also cancelled, but by the afternoon some flights had been resumed.
A spokesperson for Highlands and Islands Airports Limited said: 'We can confirm that this morning's schedule at Stornoway Airport has been impacted by adverse weather.
'Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for travel updates.'
