Hijo del Vikingo retained the mega championship title, and Omos won the La Copa Bardhal on a day Rey Mysterio inducted Konnan into the AAA Hall Of Fame.
The 33rd edition of the AAA Triplemania thrilled fans and onlookers at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Sunday as Hijo del Vikingo retained the mega championship title, and Omos won the La Copa Bardhal on a day Rey Mysterio inducted Konnan into the AAA Hall Of Fame.
Omos was the last man left standing in a 14-man event akin to the Royal Rumble as he withstood the challenge from La Parka towards the end of the bout after Laredo Kid, Joaquin Wilde, Abismo Negro Jr., Taurus, Aerostar, Mecha Wolf, Cruz Del Toro, Otis, Pimpinela Escarlata, Cibernetico, Microman, and Octagon Jr. were eliminated. Parka, who opened the fight weathered the storm till the final knockings of the event, but Omos, who came in to the ring last but one reigned supreme.
AAA Latin American Championship:
El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. got the better of El Mesias to win the title, as Hijo's father was in attendance to witness his son script history. Dorian Roland proved to be a distraction for Wagner outside the ring and it took the contestants' father to clock the interference as Hijo went on to clinch the crown with a pin on Mesias.
The WWE mixed tag team of Judgement day appeared on the show to add a coat of sheen as the seasoned stars isolated Nino early on, but the veteran campaigners were made to work once Iguana was tagged in. The two teams traded blow for blow, before Lola, who looked to finish off Raquel Radrigues was taken down by Roxanne Perez off the turnbuckle. La Hiedra looked to make thins easier for the other side, but ended up smashing Lola. While Nino took down the pile of male wrestlers Rodrigues hit a Tejada bomb on Lola to pick up the win.
AAA World Tag Team Championship:
Psycho Clown and Pagano got the better of Angel Garza and Humberto Carillo in the World Tag Team Championship fixture which was fought out in a streetb fight format. The holders at the start of the day, Garza and Carillo, began the bout with momentum on their side but the direction of the wind changed in favour of the challengers as Pagano managed to make inroads in the bout with his attack on Humberto, before Psycho clown hit him with a Spanish fly while the opponent was on barbed wires to close out the bout and pick up the crown.
AAA Reina de Reinas Championship:
Champion Flammer edged out Faby Apache and Natalya as the victor capitalised on a moment of lapse from Faby to clinch the win and defend her title with a crucifix pin. She was also aided by the quick count from ref El Hijo del Tirantes as Apache and Natalya got involved in a quarrell following the conclusion of the bout.
AAA Mega Championship:
Hijo del Vikingo successfully retained his crown with a win over Dragon Lee, El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio in the headline fight of the day. Interruptions from the judgement day, LWO and masked American wrestlers looked to push the game in favour of Mysterio, Americano and Dragon Lee. However, just when it seemed Dirty Dom would walk away with the top honour, AJ Styles intervened to rain on his party. Vikingo saw the opportunity and grabbed on to it to pick up the win on the back of his signature 630 senton to walk back to the locked room with his prized posession still in his grasp.
