Hillsdale Hospital launches Rural Health Strong to advocate against cuts, changes
Hillsdale Hospital has launched a new campaign, Rural Health Strong, to highlight the significance of rural health services and prompt nationwide action to preserve them, according to a community announcement. It marks the hospital's first new campaign since "Hillsdale Strong. Hillsdale First." — which encouraged the community to utilize local health services. The new campaign was developed in response to Medicaid cuts introduced by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, along with other regulatory changes and program cancellations that are already affecting rural hospitals, according to the announcement. 'We have to come together and lift our voices,' President and CEO Jeremiah J. Hodshire wrote in the announcement. 'We're financially viable right now, and to sustain that over time, we must be Rural Health Strong. Now is a critical time for us to support and advocate for all rural hospitals — our brothers and sisters around the country.' Rural Health Strong is designed to raise awareness of the value rural hospitals bring to their communities and share the stories of those most affected by legislation that disadvantages them, according to the announcement. Hillsdale Hospital has introduced the VELYS Spine Navigation Platform, a new surgical navigation system designed to enhance precision and improve outcomes for patients undergoing spine surgeries. The platform provides three-dimensional imaging to assist surgeons with real-time guidance during procedures, according to a community announcement. Spinal conditions are among the leading causes of chronic pain and disability, impacting millions worldwide. Research shows that 40% of adults over age 40 experience spinal degeneration, with the figure rising to 80% by age 80, according to the announcement. Dr. Amritraj Loganathan, a neurosurgeon performing procedures at Hillsdale Hospital, has conducted more than 500 spinal navigation cases using the new technology. 'It allows the surgeon to have a three-dimensional view of the spine while placing instrumentation such as screws,' Loganathan wrote in the announcement.
