Drunk man bludgeons parents to death with stone, arrested
Balasore: An inebriated 50-year-old man allegedly killed his parents with a stone in a fit of rage in Mayurbhanj district's Managobindpur village on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Himansu Sahu, was arrested.
The deceased have been identified as Hadibandhu Sahu (80) and his wife, Shanti Sahu (72).
Police said Himansu lives in Mantri village, about 3km away from his parental home, with a married woman. He used to visit his parents occasionally and often created disturbance.
On Tuesday night, he came home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his bedridden father. In a sudden outburst, he smashed his father's head with a stone.
When his mother tried to protest and raise an alarm, he allegedly dragged her to the verandah's steps and smashed her head with the same stone.
The crime came to light on Wednesday morning when neighbours found the bodies and alerted police. A forensic team along with officers from Baisinga police station reached the spot, found the accused sleeping on a cot in the verandah and arrested him. Police have seized the blood-stained stone.

The bodies were sent for postmortem.
Sources said Himansu's wife and two daughters had left him years ago due to his violent behaviour and alcohol addiction. They have been living at her paternal home in Nadapur ever since.
Sub-divisonal police officer (SDPO) of Betnoti, Minati Biswal, said preliminary investigation suggests the incident occurred due to a family feud.
