Intel Shares Lists Of Pak Citizens Present In Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police verified around 2,000 Pakistani visitors who were said to be present in the national capital and ensured that those without a long-term visa were on their way out, sources said on Monday. A majority of those present in Delhi left via Punjab and other borders by Monday evening. A coordinated operation was run by the 'Pakistan cell' in the special branch and intelligence wing of Delhi Police, along with local police personnel in all districts of Delhi over the last two days. This action followed the revocation of visas for Pakistani nationals after a recent directive from the Centre, prompted by the Pahalgam attack. Intelligence agencies shared two lists of 3,000 and 2,000 Pakistani citizens potentially present in Delhi. There are various names overlapping in these lists, so each name is being verified individually and their status recorded. Elaborating on the measures, a senior officer said: "District DCPs received lists of Pakistani nationals residing in their areas, and teams were then dispatched to visit their residences, check their documents, and ask them to leave the country voluntarily. The SHOs were asked to ascertain the legal status of people in their jurisdiction and submit a report." Around 50 Pakistani nationals were traced in central Delhi localities and 27 in the north. "Many of those who landed in Delhi were contacted, and they said that they went to other places like Bhopal, Mumbai, etc., to meet their relatives and acquaintances," said an inspector. The verification process was strict in areas of southeast Delhi, northeast Delhi, and north and central Delhi, officers said. Many visited the special branch office to inquire about their exit forms. Sources said those who failed to leave voluntarily or did not have a long-term visa would be subject to deportation proceedings. "Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to take swift action against those who do not comply with the orders. In addition, guest houses, lodges and hotels have been directed to submit detailed lists of Pakistani nationals staying at their establishments. This move is intended to ensure no individual escapes scrutiny by relocating to temporary accommodation," said a senior officer. On Friday, MHA issued an order regarding the revocation of visas of Pak nationals except for medical, diplomatic, and long-term visas, with effect from April 27, 2025. The existing medical visas shall also stand invalid after April 29. Govt later clarified that long-term visas already granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.

Pak Hindu refugees get temporary breather, many apply for long term visas

Jaisalmer : With India revoking visa services to all but diplomatic, official and long-term visa holders, Hindu Pakistani citizens on short-term visas in India made a beeline to apply for long-term visas before the deadline ended on Sunday. Over Saturday and Sunday, over 800 Hindu Pakistani citizens in Jaisalmer prepared and submitted their long-term visa applications at the Foreigners Registration Office. Dalip Singh Sodha of the Seemant Lok Sangathan said, "We received assurances of relief from the govt. There is a possibility of relief for Hindu refugees from Pakistan, and we have high hopes from this decision." Under this relief, displaced Hindu refugees from Pakistan who came to India on short-term visas were asked to apply for LTV (Long Term Visa). If they apply for LTV within the deadline, they may be allowed to stay in India permanently, Sodha said. He said it is likely govt may issue specific orders for Hindu refugees from Pakistan, providing them relief for a certain period. "This could be a historic step, proving to be a lifeline for thousands of Hindu refugees displaced from Pakistan to India," Sodha added. By Sunday, over 800 Pakistani Hindu refugees had applied for long-term visas. However, Sodha said if the LTV applications are not completed within the specified time frame, concerned persons may have to return to Pakistan.

IB Identifies nearly 5,000 Pakistani nationals in Delhi, shares list with Police

NEW DELHI: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has identified nearly 5,000 Pakistani nationals living in the National Capital and has shared the list of names with the Delhi Police, suggesting the force to verify and take measures to ensure that they return to Pakistan, sources said on Sunday. The IB action has come in the backdrop of the government's decision to revoke all the visas, except long-term, diplomatic and official ones, granted to citizens of Pakistan in the wake of ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 resulting in the death of 26 tourists. The IB, based on the information provided by the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO), has shared the list with a special branch of the Delhi police, which in turn has further forwarded to the police districts concerned for further verification and identification, the sources said, adding that the names shared with the Police also include Hindu Pakistan nationals, who have Long-Term-Visas (LTVs) and are exempted. Noting that the Central and North East districts of the national capital have higher numbers of Pakistani national living, a source said, 'The list has been handed over to the district concerned for verification and ensuring that they return to their homeland, as senior officers are assigned the task of monitoring the developments.' The officers of the IB and the special branch of the Delhi police have been entrusted to collect information about these Pakistani nationals residing in Delhi and ask them to leave India at the earliest. The sources also confirmed that they have two lists of 3000 and 2000 Pakistan nationals staying in Delhi. Certain names overlap, and it is subject to verification of their stay as many Pakistan nationals have already left. On Friday, MHA issued an order regarding the revocation of visas of Pakistan nationals except Diplomatic/Official and LTVs, with effect from April 27, 2025. The existing medical visas shall also stand invalid after April 29, 2025. Later in a statement the MHA had clarified that LTVs granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid. The government estimates that around 900 people are living near Majnu Ka Tila and 600-700 near Signature Bridge.
