Rana Atef On Sunday, New Japan Pro Wrestling held the 11th night of the G1 Climax 35, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the pro wrestling scene. This day witnessed the competitions of R6 for Group A. Today's contests witnessed the 100th G1 Climax tournament win of NJPW legend and president Hiroshi Tanahashi as he defeated Yota Tsuji in the main event. 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣WINS!!! NJPW's G1 Climax 35 to Kick off Today

Rana Atef Today, New Japan Pro Wrestling will begin its most iconic tournament and the most prestigious one in the global wrestling scene, G1 Climax. 20 competitors will do battle in a round robin tournament that will determine the strongest on the roster and become the number one contender for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4th, 2026. Hiroshi Tanahashi will participate in the tournament for one last time before hanging up his shoes after the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom. He is enlisted in A Block. The block also features Taichi, Yota Tsuji, and David Finlay. EVIL, the House of Torture leader and his stablemate SANADA will both be in the same block. Yuya Uemura, Ryohei Oiwa, Callum Newman and NEVER Openweight Champion Boltin Oleg are also in A Block. Then on the other side of the spectrum, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. and IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Gabe Kidd are in B Block. Sabre Jr. ZSJ was the winner of last year's G1 Climax. Also, AEW's Konosuke Takeshita will participate in his second G1 Climax tournament in the B Block. The block also includes Shota Umino, and Ren Narita. NJPW Announces G1 Climax 35 Participants

Rana Atef On Sunday, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the participants for the 34th G1 Climax tournament. The majority of the participants in the tournament are announced. 16 participants were announced, in addition to four additional participants who will be determined in play-ins. Hiroshi Tanahashi will participate in the tournament for one last time before hanging up his shoes after the upcoming Wrestle Kingdom. AEW, DDT, and NJPW superstar Konosuke Takeshita will compete in this year's tournament as well. NJPW 2025 Windy City Riot: Tanahashi Wrestles Final US-Soil Match

Rana Atef Early Saturday, Hiroshi Tanahashi wrestled his final match on US soil at the 2025 NJPW Windy City Riot. The NJPW legend faced the promising Konosuke Takeshita as he is on a retirement tour, with his final career bout set for next year's Wrestle Kingdom in the Tokyo Dome. The show also was co-main event by an IWGP World Heavyweight title match between the Champion Hirooki Goto and Shota Umino, which ended with Goto retaining his title. Moreover, Gabe Kidd put his NJPW Strong Championship against Tomohiro Ishii in a 30-minute Iron Man match which saw the crowning of a new champion. The #1 contender match between AZM and Mina Shirakawa for the NJPW Strong Women's title ended in a double countout, so the Champion Mercedes Mone will defend her title in a 3-way match.
