Elaborate arrangements are being made to ensure the ceremony is held in a festive yet respectful atmosphere. Hyderabad: Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' has been declared as the best feature film while Allu Arjun bagged the best leading actor award for his powerful performance in 'Pushpa-2' in maiden Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2025 announced by the Telangana government on Thursday. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will present the awards at a grand ceremony to be organized at Hitex in Hyderabad on June 14. Announcing the awards, Jury chairman and veteran actress Jayasudha and Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju said that a total of 21 individuals would receive special jury and individual awards. Several other awards were also announced in the names of Telugu cinema legends like NTR, Paidi Jayaraj, BN Reddy, Nagireddy-Chakrapani, Kantha Rao and Raghupathi Venkaiah. Nivetha Thomas has been adjudged as the best leading actress for '35-Chinna Katha Kadu'. Nag Ashwin got the best director award for 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Bheems Ceciroleo adjudged best music director for 'Razakar'. SJ Surya bagged the best supporting actor award for 'Saripoda Sanivaram' while Saranya Pradeep received the best supporting actress award for her performance in 'Ambajipeta Marriage Band'. Sid Sriram is the best male playback singer for the song 'Nizame Ne Chebutunna' from the film 'Ooru Peru Bhairavakona'. Shreya Goshal is the best female playback singer for the song 'Suseti Aggi Ravva' from 'Pushpa 2'. The jury picked Satya and Vennela Kishore for best comedian award for the film 'Mattu Vadalara-2'. Venky Atluri is the best screenplay writer for 'Lucky Bhaskar' while Siva Paladugu is the best story writer for 'Music shop Murthy'. Chandra Bose bagged the best lyricist award for 'Raju Yadav' while Vishawanath Reddy got best cinematographer award for 'Gaami'. Actor Dulquer Salmaan bagged special jury award for 'Lucky Bhasker', Ananya Nagalla for 'Pottel', Sujith and Sandeep for 'KA', Prashanth Reddy and Rajesh Kallepally for 'Raju Yadav' and Faria Abdullah for rap song in 'Mattu Vadalara-2'. 'Pottel' and 'Lucky Bhasker' were declared second and third best feature films, respectively. 'Committee Kurrollu' adjudged best feature film on national integration, communal harmony and social uplift of depressed classes. The jury declared '35 Chinna Katha Kadu' as the best children's film and 'Razakar' as the best feature film on history. Yedu Vamsee is the best debut feature film director for 'Committee Kurrollu'. 'Aay…Mem friends andi' was picked as the best wholesome entertainment film. This is the first official state-level film awards since the formation of Telangana, putting an end to the long pause since the last Nandi Awards were presented in the undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2011. The jury had received 1,248 nominations for the awards in 11 categories. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy last year announced that Nandi awards for excellence in Telugu cinema will be revived and renamed after revolutionary poet and balladeer Gaddar, who passed away in 2023.

Telangana gears up to host 72nd Miss World Pageant

The global spotlight is set to shine on Telangana as the 72nd edition of the Miss World beauty pageant kicks off in Hyderabad on Saturday, with an opening ceremony at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. The event marks the beginning of a three-week jamboree that promises to blend glamour, culture, and social purpose across Telangana. The decision to host the pageant in Telangana was announced on February 19 by the Miss World Organisation. 'We are delighted to bring the 72nd Miss World Festival to Telangana, a State that beautifully represents its rich culture, innovation, and hospitality. This collaboration is not just about hosting the Miss World Festival; it's about empowering communities, celebrating diversity, and making a lasting impact through our shared commitment to beauty with a purpose,' said Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organisation. In March, the Telangana Tourism Department unveiled a detailed schedule for the event, which will see contestants travel beyond Hyderabad to experience the cultural and historic richness of Warangal, Pochampally, Buddhavanam, Yadagirigutta, and Mahabubnagar. One of the key highlights in Hyderabad will be a heritage walk through Charminar and Laad Bazaar on May 13, concluding with a welcome dinner at the Chowmahalla Palace. Contestants will also visit AIG Hospitals to gain insights into the city's medical tourism offerings, and tour the Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGPICCC) to learn about safety and tourism initiatives. The competitive rounds begin with the Continental Finale on May 20 and 21 at T-Hub, followed by the Talent Finale at Shilpakala Vedika on May 22. The Top Model Fashion Finale is scheduled for May 24 at either Trident Hotel or Hitex, and the prestigious 'Beauty with a Purpose' event will be held at Hitex on May 26. The pageant will culminate in a grand finale at Hitex on May 31, where the new Miss World and other title-holders will be crowned. Their journey will conclude with a formal meeting and high tea with the Governor and Chief Minister of Telangana at Raj Bhavan on June 2, coinciding with Telangana State Formation Day.

Drone ban in Cyberabad for Miss World contest

The Cyberabad police have imposed a ban on drones, para-gliders, and other remotely controlled micro light aircraft across several key areas ahead of the Miss World 2025 contest scheduled to be held in Telangana The restrictions will be in place from May 4 to June 2, as per the notification, issued by Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty. The police have prohibited flying of drones and similar aerial vehicles up to a radius of 100 metres around designated locations and on specified dates during the duration of the pageant. The areas under restriction include Hitex in Madhapur on May 2, 24, 26 and 31; Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad from May 6 to 8; Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on May 10 and 17; Experium Eco Tour Park in Chilkoor on May 16; T-Hub at Gachibowli on May 20 and 21; Shilparamam on May 21; Shilpakalavedika on May 22 and Trident Hotel in Hi-Tech City, Madhapur, for the entire duration from May 2 to June 2. Police have warned that any person found violating this order will face legal consequences under relevant laws. The enforcement comes as part of heightened security arrangements for the international event, which is expected to attract high-profile participants and global attention.
