Hizbullah Secretary-General Naim Qassem Rejects President Aoun's Call For Hizbullah To Surrender Its Arms: The State Has A Monopoly On Enforcing Security In Lebanon, But We Use Our Weapons Against Israel; Israel Constitutes A Danger Even Within Its Borders

In a March 9, 2025, interview with Al-Manar TV (Hizbullah-Lebanon), Hizbullah Secretary-General Naim Qassem stated that Hizbullah agrees with the principle that the state must have a monopoly over security and rejects the concept of militias. However, he clarified that this does not apply to Hizbullah, as it is a resistance movement focused on resisting the Israeli enemy and defending Lebanon from its threats. Qassem emphasized that if the Lebanese state is strong enough to confront Israel, Hizbullah has no issue with it doing so. He argued that as long as Israel exists, it remains a danger, and Hizbullah reserves the right to fight it. Qassem further explained that Hizbullah does not consider President Aoun's statements against militias or calls for surrendering weapons to be directed at them. Naim Qassem: "I would like to explain something to the public, as well as to the state. We are also saying that the weapons should be the monopoly of the Internal Security Forces and the Lebanese army, so that they can enforce security in Lebanon and defend it. "We are not opposed to them being responsible for that. We reject the logic of militias, and reject anyone sharing with the state the responsibility of maintaining its security. "We have nothing to do will all of this. We are a resistance [movement]. The resistance is against the Israeli enemy. It attacks our land, and we defend it. If you say that the state is enough against the Israeli enemy – go ahead and show us what you can do with this enemy. We have no problem with you confronting this enemy. "However, as a resistance movement, we consider Israel to be a danger whether it occupies [Lebanese land], prepares to occupy it, or stays in the heart of the Israeli entity... Sorry, in the heart of Palestine, within [the borders] of its entity. Israel is a danger according to every criterion, and the resistance has the right to continue [fighting], and this has nothing to do with running the state, the state's weapons, or the enforcement of internal security [in Lebanon]. If anyone thinks that what President [Aoun] said was directed against us – we don't see it this way."

Hassan Nasrallah's Son Jawad And Daughter Zaynab: During His Final Days, Our Father Was Depressed – The Pager Attack Changed Him; He Became Sad And Spiritless

Hassan Nasrallah's son Jawad and daughter Zaynab discussed their father's final days in an appearance on Al-Manar TV (Hizbullah-Lebanon) on February 28, 2025, describing him as depressed after the September 2024 pager attack. Jawad said that he became a changed man following the killing of Hizbullah military leader Fuad Shukr and the pager attack, feeling spiritless and sad, seeking encouragement. Zaynab shared that her mother told her that Nasrallah was crying after the attack. Jawad Nasrallah: "After the killing of Hajj Mohsen [Fuad Shukr], then the pager attack, and until his final days, he was spiritless and sad. You could feel that he was depressed. He was not desperate, but you could see that he was hurt, you could see that he was slaughtered from his neck to his heart. Cut into two. What could he say? There were times that I did not like to hear his voice when he was like that. You listen to him seeking encouragement, but once you hear his voice is like that, it hurts your heart. Later I learned that he was crying." [...] Interviewer: "The pager attack made him cry..." Jawad Nasrallah: "It's not just that. I met with people who would see him and talk to him. They said that he was one man before the pager attack and a different man after." [...] Zaynab Nasrallah: "The men who were wounded in the pager attack... Even the doctors who treated them said they had never seen such things. I knew it was painful for him, but I wanted to know what his reaction was, and [my mother] told me that he was crying."

Hizbullah-Affiliated Journalist Pierre Abi-Saab: Morgan Ortagus Is Insolent, Stoned, And Clueless – A Stupid Woman Who Stepped All Over Lebanese Sovereignty With Her Stiletto Heels

Pierre Abi-Saab, a journalist at the Hizbullah-affiliated Al-Akhbar newspaper, described President Trump's new Deputy Envoy to the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, as a "Trump prototype" — insolent, stoned, and clueless — during a February 7, 2025 appearance on Al-Manar TV (Hizbullah-Lebanon). He further claimed that Ortagus is even more of a Zionist than Biden's envoy Amos Hochstein. Abi-Saab criticized her role, stating that she is merely the assistant envoy, yet still managed to "step all over" the Lebanese President with her stiletto heels. Pierre Abi-Saab: "America has been protecting the Israeli enemy for a long time. "Hochstein was not less of a Zionist than [Morgan Ortagus]. On the contrary, he had served in the Israeli army, but he knew how to be diplomatic. He was a bit more canny. Now they brought you some stoned woman... You've said it right. She is the Trump prototype – insolent, stoned, and clueless. "She has this cowboy mentality... She is not even the U.S. President's envoy to the Middle East, just his deputy. At the presidential palace, the sacred center of Lebanese sovereignty and democracy, she just says whatever comes to her mind. With her stilettos, she steps all over the President, right from the start. [...] "This stupid woman comes along... I told you, she is the assistant to the envoy of the U.S. President, yet she thinks that with her stilettos, she can step all over our sovereignty and our President."
