Wawa opening new Fishersville store Friday with ceremonies, giveaways, hoagie competition

Wawa officials announced grand opening ceremonies for its new Fishersville location Aug. 15, starting at 7:45 a.m. It will be the first Wawa in Augusta County. The store is located at 438 Tinkling Spring Road. A Staunton store will open in October at 1135 Richmond Ave. A Pennsylvania-based convenience store and gas station chain, Wawa stores offer a foodservice selection, including Wawa brands such as custom prepared hoagies, freshly-brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, hand-crafted specialty beverages, a dinner menu including burgers and pizza, an assortment of soups, sides and snacks. The festivities in Fisherville will start at 7:45 a.m. with Wawa General Manager Patrick Murphy doing the honors of counting down the moment when the doors open for the very first time at 8 a.m., with free Wawa T-shirts for the first 100 customers, as supplies last, and free any size hot coffee through Aug. 17. Immediately following at 8:30 a.m., customers are invited to participate in a brief ceremony to celebrate the new store team. The program includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local officials, customers and a 'Hoagies for Heroes' hoagie-building competition between first responders benefitting local charities. Also, Wawa is bringing back its popular $5 Big Breakfast Deal through Sept. 7. Customers can visit any of Wawa's 1,100 locations from 5-11 a.m. for the deal, which includes any-size hot or iced coffee, any Sizzli breakfast sandwich, and a hash brown. Wawa is touching down in Indianapolis. The Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain, known for its made-to-order hoagies, is opening its fourth Indiana store on July 10 at 3835 E. 96th. With the grand opening comes free hot coffee through July 13. The offer applies to any size. Also, the first 250 customers get free T-shirts. Doors open at 8 a.m., and a ribbon-cutting ceremony starts at 9 a.m. The event will feature Wawa mascot Wally Goose, while first responders will engage in a 'Hoagies for Heroes' hoagie-building competition. The chain plans to open 60 stores in the state, eight of them operating by the end of 2025. A Daleville location opened in May 2025, quickly followed by those in Noblesville and Clarkesville. All sell fuel. The first Wawa Food Market opened in 1964 as an outlet for a family dairy processing plant's products. Wawa is known for custom-prepared sandwiches and other fresh food and beverages. It offers fresh-brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, and a dinner menu that includes burgers, soups and sides. The company has more than 1,100 locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
