Odyssey releases Happy Gilmore hockey stick putter to celebrate Netflix sequel

Odyssey's limited-edition Happy Gilmore hockey stick putter and golf balls celebrate with Netflix's sequel pf tjhe classic golf comedy. For golf fans of a certain generation, Happy Gilmore wasn't just a comedy — it was a rite of passage. The story of a hockey player turned unlikely golf hero, armed with an anger problem and a slap-shot putting stroke, resonated with anyone who's ever gripped a club and dreamed big. Now, almost 30 years after Adam Sandler first stepped up to the tee in Timberland boots, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25, and Odyssey is bringing one of the movie's most memorable props back to the course in the form of a limited-edition Happy Gilmore 2 Hockey Stick putter ($499.99). This is a real-life version of the club Happy made famous on the big screen, but let's be clear, this club does not conform to the Rules of Golf and therefore is not legal for play. But who cares, it's a 44-inch long hockey stick designed by Odyssey that has a urethane face insert that looks like the tape hockey players wrap around the blade of their stick. In other words, it may look like something you'd see on an NHL bench, but it's built for fun and laughs at the course. The Happy Gilmore 2 hockey stick putter even comes with an athletic sock headcover — a nod to the original film's DIY aesthetic and the putter's makeshift roots. Along with the putter, Callaway is releasing a set of special Happy Gilmore 2-themed Chrome Tour golf balls. The balls are available now and come decorated with references every fan will recognize: Happy's Boston hockey jersey and famous lines like 'Just tap it in' and 'It's all in the hips.' The balls — which retail for $59.99 per dozen — are the same Chrome Tour model currently used by multiple Tour players and are featured in the new film. Whether you plan to break out the putter in your weekend four-ball or keep it in a display case next to your bobbleheads and Caddyshack DVDs, one thing's for sure: Shooter McGavin won't be happy about this. And that's exactly the point.
