‘A big family': Hogs for Hospice roars in Leamington
The Hogs for Hospice event seen in Leamington, Ont. on Aug. 2, 2025. (Robert Lothian/CTV News Windsor) Revving engines sent vibrations across Leamington as the annual Hogs for Hospice event continued Saturday. Well over 1,000 bikes lined up around Seacliff Park for the 'Tour the Tip' registered ride that takes participants around the region. Only partway through the event, Tricia Stevenson, a longtime volunteer, noted an impressive turnout to start the weekend. 'We had a good turnout for registration last night, and actually an extremely [good] amount of pledges that we weren't expecting,' Stevenson said. The three-day event features motocross shows, wrestling matches, and biker rodeos, among many other activities. Funds raised throughout the event supports the Erie Shores Hospice, and to date, it has raised more than $5 million for the cause. 'It's very near and dear to my heart. My mom is very involved with hospice, but it's one big family helping other families that need help and other associations that are requiring help,' Stevenson said. 'People actually realize that there might be one day that their family needs this, and it's actually, like I say, a big family.' The event continues Saturday night with a concert featuring Mitchell Tenpenny and Carly Pearce.

You are asked to be patient, as more motorcycle traffic than normal is anticipated. Drivers should be extra vigilant and take more time checking blind spots, mirrors, and signaling your turns to prevent collisions. An increased police presence will also be in Leamington to ensure safety and help with any traffic issues. New to the event this year is enhanced security to get into the concert area, where you will see more hand metal detectors and bag searches. Hogs for Hospice and ESHF move forward as separate organizations
Erie Shores Health Foundation (ESHF) and Hogs for Hospice are moving forward as separate, independent organizations, the foundation announced. As the 2025 Hogs for Hospice motorcycle rally approaches in August, ESHF issued a news release on Monday thanking the founding organizers and long-time supporters of Hogs for Hospice for their extraordinary contributions to local hospice care over the past 15 years. 'As we look ahead, given the event's growth and size, Erie Shores Health Foundation and Hogs for Hospice have mutually agreed to move forward as separate, independent organizations,' said the statement. 'This formal transition reflects best practices in charitable governance and reinforces each organization's autonomy.' Erie Shores Health Foundation will remain fully focused on its strategic priorities, including stewarding donations, supporting hospice and hospital care, and investing in long-term health outcomes for the region.
