This comes as part of the Ministry of the Public Business Sector's efforts to enhance tourism experience using modern technology, providing innovative cultural and educational content. This experience is the first of its kind in the Pyramids area, with the shows presented within a building belonging to the Sound and Light Company. The latest 3D virtual reality technologies have been employed to provide content that accurately simulates the ancient Egyptian environment, reflecting the grandeur of the Pharaonic civilization and making visiting it a truly immersive experience. Visitors can virtually tour historical archaeological sites through an interactive experience that simulates the past using advanced virtual reality glasses, taking them back in time through ancient history. Highlights Highlights of the shows include exploring the tomb of Tutankhamun with all its treasures and artifacts, simulating the process of building the pyramids, delving into the secrets of the sunken monuments of ancient Alexandria, and learning about the rituals and secrets of mummification. This project is part of the ministry's plan to modernize and develop tourism services and enrich the visitor experience with interactive content that combines entertainment and knowledge, particularly for young people, Egyptians, and foreign visitors. This will contribute to strengthening Egypt's image as a developed and revitalized tourist destination. The project is scheduled to later include other archaeological sites, including the temples of Karnak, Edfu, Abu Simbel, and the Qaitbay Citadel, becoming a key component of the company's plan for digital transformation in the cultural tourism sector.

'Sound and Light' shows start on Sunday at Giza Pyramids using VR

Sound and Light shows at the Giza Pyramids - file CAIRO - 24 May 2025: The chairman of the Sound and Light Company, an affiliate of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, announced that new Sound and Light shows using Virtual Reality (VR) technology will begin at the Giza Pyramids starting Sunday. Speaking to Extra News TV channel, Mohamed Abdel Aziz said that this step comes within the framework of developing traditional shows and combining culture with entertainment. Visitors will be able to explore Ancient Egyptian civilization and history in an interactive and immersive way through advanced VR headsets, he said. The goal is to enhance the appeal of the archaeological site and increase tourism, offering a modernized, high-quality experience, he added. This development is in line with directives from the minister of public business sector, in cooperation with the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, according to him.

Egypt - Hotels affiliated with the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels (HOTAC), under the Ministry of Public Enterprises Sector, achieved near or full occupancy rates during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, reflecting robust demand for Egyptian destinations from local, Arab, and international tourists. In Cairo, several key hotels recorded exceptional performance. The Nile Ritz-Carlton, operated by the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels (EGOTH) and located in Tahrir Square overlooking the Nile, reported a 96% occupancy rate. Downtown Cairo's Cleopatra and Cosmopolitan Hotels—also affiliated with EGOTH—reached full occupancy. Meanwhile, the Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel in Giza, managed by the Tourism Urbanization Company, registered an 89% occupancy rate. In coastal and tourist areas, HOTAC hotels performed similarly well. The Steigenberger El-Lesan Hotel in Ras El-Bar, Damietta, achieved a 93% occupancy rate. In South Sinai, the Sofitel Dahab Hotel, affiliated with EGOTH, hit 100% occupancy, while the Retak Dahab Hotel reached 94%. Upper Egypt also saw strong numbers. The Steigenberger Ashti Hotel in Luxor, affiliated with the Arab Company for Tourism and Hotel Investment (Ashti), recorded 92% occupancy, and the Port Said Hotel, owned by EGOTH, reached 85%. Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Mohamed Shimi emphasized that these divs reflect the success of the ministry's comprehensive strategy to upgrade hotel infrastructure, expand and modernize existing properties, and restore Egypt's historic hotels through strategic investments and partnerships. Shimi added that improving service quality and enhancing the capabilities of hotel staff are key components of this development plan. 'These efforts aim to boost competitiveness, raise occupancy rates, and ensure guest satisfaction,' he said. The minister also affirmed the government's commitment to reinforcing the role of HOTAC and its subsidiaries in strengthening Egypt's position as a top global tourism destination. 'We are actively pursuing every opportunity to support this vital sector and showcase Egypt's unique offerings to the world,' Shimi stated.
