Boston Police respond to 4 shooting and 2 stabbings in Dorchester in under 12 hours

Boston Police were called to a slew of violent incidents starting late on Sunday evening into Monday morning in the neighborhood of Dorchester. After 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to Massachusetts Avenue for a report of a person stabbed outside the Home Run Cafe. Police found a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a Boston hospital for treatment and no arrests have been made at this time. Police are also investigating four different reports of people who were shot overnight, which may be related. Around 1 a.m. Monday morning, Boston EMS treated an adult man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at Ellington Street. Just before 3 a.m., officers found an adult man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at Kingsdale Street in Dorchester. Two minutes later, officers on patrol in Dorchester tried to stop two people believed to be linked to a shot spotter investigation. Police say the suspects failed to stop their dirt bike and ended up crashing the vehicle and engaging in a foot chase. Officers found one of the men hiding under a parked car with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Before 3 a.m., officers found another individual suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on Talbot Avenue in Dorchester. All of these incidents remain under investigation and no arrests have been made. Monday morning, just after 10 a.m., police were called to a report of a stabbing at Dacia Street. Police found an adult man suffering from a stab wound and arrested 42-year-old Jacques Lassy, who was located in a nearby vehicle. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has often called Boston the safest major city in the country. WBZ-TV asked her about that remark, given the violence. "When I say that we're the safest major city in the country, it is never to say that our work is done," Wu said, "We will not be satisfied in Boston until we have ended violence, period."
