Nitish instructs early completion of govt Tibbi Medical College Hospital
Patna, May 31 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar instructed officials to expeditiously complete the Government Tibbi Medical College Hospital and also asked to maintain the construction quality quality. While unveiling the foundation stone through remote here on Saturday, Kumar said that the 200-bed Government Tibbi Medical College and Hospital was being constructed at an expenditure of Rs 264 crore on 10 acres of land in the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital campus. He said that providing accessible, affordable and quality health care to every citizen of the state was the priority of the government. Highlighting the importance of the Unani system of treatment, he said the government was trying to strengthen this system along with Ayurveda and Homeopathy for providing better health services to the people. Speaking about the indigenous system of treatments, Kumar said that Unani played an important role as it not only treats the disease but also focuses on a person's body, mind and soul. It keeps a person healthy through lifestyle, diet, naturopathy and Hakimi medicines. While inspecting the Government Tabbi Medical College Hospital in 2021, the CM in view of the dilapidated conditions of its building had instructed officials to construct and expand it on 10 acre of land adjacent to the Nalanda Medical College Hospital campus in the state capital. The authorities apprised the Chief Minister about the separate boys and girls hostel, PG intern hostel and infrastructure for the principal medical superintendent. Kumar said 150 students would be enrolled every year in the government Tibbi Medical College Hospital which will have a provision of 200 beds, a Convention Hall of 500 capacity, boys hostel with 400 capacities, the girls hostel with 350 capacity, medicine manufacturing unit along with the residence of employees of the institution. CM for Ayush colleges in all UP divisions
Lucknow: on Saturday directed that integrated be established in every division of the state, with all Ayush systems — Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy — available on a single campus. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Addressing a high-level review meeting of the Ayush department, the CM emphasised that the initiative would not only strengthen the Ayush medical system but also contribute to the development of the future health-based educational infrastructure. He said: "The govt is committed to expanding access to Ayush services. Efforts are being carried out in mission mode to bring to the masses." He added that the establishment of naturopathy and yoga centres in all Ayush institutions is being made mandatory, and the department must ensure timely completion of the recruitment process to fill 100% of approved academic and medical posts. He asserted: "Health and wellness centres should be established in every district of the state, and may be operated either through govt initiatives or in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. " The CM instructed that continuous monitoring of these institutions should be carried out to enhance their effectiveness, and that resources should be allocated based on their requirements. Reiterating that the construction of Ayush university must be completed on time without compromising quality, the CM directed that all ongoing departmental projects across the state be fast-tracked for early completion. Encouraging private sector participation, the CM urged investors to explore opportunities in the Ayush domain. He also directed that Ayush colleges and hospitals operated by private institutions must meet stringent quality benchmarks in infrastructure, laboratories, libraries, faculty and staff to ensure high standards of education and healthcare delivery. "Special methods like Panchakarma in Ayurveda are very effective in the treatment of serious diseases, so these methods should be promoted in all Ayush institutions of the state. Considering the popularity of Ayush medicine, this is the time when India's traditional medicine should be presented scientifically and established on the global platform," the CM said. Stating that elaborate preparations must be made for a successful , the CM said: "Yoga day programmes should be held across all divisions, districts, municipal bodies, gram panchayats and govt departments throughout the state. The CM further suggested signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading Ayurvedic manufacturing institutions such as Dabur, Baidyanath and Patanjali to ensure a steady supply of essential medicines to all Ayush hospitals, so that no patient faces shortages of medical treatment. During the meeting, officials from the Ayush department said that the state currently has 2,127 Ayurvedic, 259 Unani and 1,598 Homeopathic medical institutions, all of which play a vital role in delivering Ayush services to the public. The CM concluded that Ayush is not only a symbol of India's rich medical tradition, but it also represents a holistic approach to health while stressing that all efforts should be united, planned and executed in a timely manner to position UP as a national and global leader in the field of Ayush.

Efforts are being made in the mission mode to bring traditional healthcare systems to the public, he said. Pain remedy therapies at District Siddha Hospital in Tiruchi receive good response
The number of in-patients undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Siddha Hospital, functioning at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital complex here, has gone up. Thanks to the increasing awareness of Indian medicine systems, the number of patients seeking treatment under the them is steadily increasing. The District Headquarters Hospital offers treatment under Siddha, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani systems. According to sources, about 600 to 700 patients visit the hospital for treatment a day. Until a few years ago, the figure was just around 300 a day. Besides seeking remedy for common ailments such as fever, body aches, cold and cough, patients receive medicines for thyroid, sugar, hypertension, skin diseases and other ailments. The patients are provided with medicines supplied by the Tamil Nadu Medical Plant Farms and Herbal Medicine Corporation Limited (TAMPCOL), a State-owned company that procures and produces Indian traditional medicines. While most patients are given treatment as out patients, there are patients, who require admission. According to sources, there are 16 beds in the hospital. All are fully occupied. The patients, who require in patient treatment, are mostly senior citizens. Many seek treatment for body ache, joint pain, disc collapse, disc bulge and cervical spondylosis. They are treated with a range of therapies including 'varma', 'yoga', 'thokkanam', panchakarma, fomentation, massage, steam inhalation and others. 'There are therapies that rejuvenate the body from age-related aches. Depending upon the condition of patients we provide in-patient treatment for two to seven days. It supports the patients for at least five to six months. They will have to visit the hospital for treatment at regular intervals,' says Vatchala, District Siddha Medical Officer-In-Charge. She said the hospital had a number of regular patients, who wanted to repeat the therapies at regular intervals. It was getting patients from far away places such as Thuraiyur, Musiri, Thottiyam and others.
