This Huge House in the Hamptons Is Bachelorette Party Perfection
If you've ever watched Summer House on Bravo and thought, "Wow, I'd sure like to live that life one day," I feel you. Drama and hangovers aside, there's something so appealing about the idea of bunking up with your besties in the Hamptons for a weekend. You know, waking up and immediately sunning by the pool, prepping a family meal and chugging rosé around a long table, and returning after a long night in Montauk and recapping it while snuggling on the living room couches? It's a concept so appealing, in fact, that I decided I needed to have my bachelorette party in the Hamptons and invite five of my closest friends to live out my Summer House fantasies for a long weekend in May.
Of course, to turn my dreams into a reality, we needed to rent the perfect property to call home for three nights, and that's how I was introduced to Cape Lane Home in East Hampton. I found the four-bedroom, two-bathroom house through Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, a platform curating over 180,000 luxury, whole-home vacation rentals around the world (clutch if you're a points-obsessed Bonvoy girlie like me). There were so many gorgeous properties to choose from, but one was just a five-minute drive from the beach, a 10-minute drive from the adorable town of East Hampton, and looked perfect for a group of six girls just looking to relax by the pool and enjoy each other's company. We booked it and never looked back.
Long story short, I felt like a bona fide Paige DeSorbo (minus the breakup) for four glorious days with my very own giggly squad by my side, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to book a group trip sometime this summer (or any other season, honestly). I've got a full review for you below, if you wanna get in on all the action. And trust me, you do.
BOOK A STAY
THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS
We took a Blacklane from NYC to East Hampton, and when we started taking the winding roads leading up to the house, I felt like we were truly kicking off an episode of Summer House, Friday afternoon car gossip and all. When we pulled up to the property—which I vainly named "Hannah's House" for the sake of the bach—I was in awe of not only the size, but how blissfully secluded it felt after coming from the city.
I punched the code into the keypad (maybe I'm anti-social, but I love when you don't have to meet up with the owner to get a key for a rental), brought my bags in, and ran around both levels of the house, checking everything out. I marveled at the massive dining room table (perfect for a family meal), the chic fireplace in the living room, all the barware in the kitchen, and then stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the backyard. Between the pool, the chaise lounges, the hammock, the outdoor dining space, and the fire pit, there wasn't much more I could ask for. We blew up the pool floats we brought with us (although there were even more waiting for us in the basement), and the vibes were out of this world.
THE ROOMS
As I mentioned, the house has four bedrooms—two upstairs (one with a king, one with full-sized bunk beds), and two downstairs (one king and one queen), with a bathroom on each floor. I tested all the beds, and the owners clearly invested in good mattresses, because I could have fallen asleep instantly on every single one. The cozy robes hanging in each closet were another lovely touch, and there were more than enough plush towels—beach and bath—to go around.
Though average in size, the bathrooms also impressed the group thanks to the heated floors and the extra-large Kiehl's products in both showers. When I cranked the AC up high in our bedroom, my MOH said she debated sleeping on the warm and toasty bathroom floor at 2 a.m. I swear I am not a bridezilla, I am just a hot sleeper.
THE AMENITIES
You know how sometimes you book a vacation rental and they leave you with two rolls of toilet paper for a week-long stay? Yeah, that's not a problem in this house. Not only were all the closets stocked with linens, toiletries, and other essentials, but the basement had literally everything you could ever need for a fun summer day, from beach toys to lawn games. (Because summer should be fun! IYKYK.) There was even a washing machine and two driers in the basement, which was just the biggest treat for those of us coming from NYC.
Other amenities of note include the outdoor shower, the ample parking space in the driveway, the Frame TV in the living room, the super-fast wifi, the backyard grill set-up, and the fact that pets are welcome.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Having my bachelorette in the Hamptons—and staying at Cape Lane Home, specifically—was probably one of my best ideas ever, if I do say so myself. Sure, my friends and I don't have nearly enough drama to warrant a Bravo show, but we sure felt like reality stars for the three nights we were in town, and I'm already looking for a way to get my ass back to East Hampton (using my Bonvoy points, no doubt).
If you've got a group of eight people or less and are looking for a bright and airy beach house to call your home in the Hamptons, you know where to look. And you might wanna book it before I cave and come crawling back to Hannah's House, Loverboy in tow, once more.
