Thrive West Central to hold ribbon-cutting for new housing development
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday afternoon, Thrive West Central will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the newest addition to the Homes for the Future Program, the Bear Creek Townhouses. The new development will bring 42 maintenance-free townhomes to the east side of Terre Haute and will go on sale in the mid $300,000 range. Thrive West Central celebrates new housing development According to Thrive West Central, each house will feature approximately 1,991 square feet of living space, including three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a two-car garage and high-end appliances and fixtures. 'The community will also include sidewalks, paved roads, green spaces, and a dog park—offering a vibrant, low-maintenance lifestyle for residents of all ages,' said Thrive West Central. Thrive West Central said this development was led by local developer Jon Mutchner and was made possible through funding provided by the City of Terre Haute via American Rescue Plan Act dollars. Thrive celebrates completion of housing project 'This project marks a significant investment in the future of housing in our region and represents a strong partnership between Thrive West Central, the City of Terre Haute, and local leaders,' said Thrive West Central. Vigo County leaders, new homeowners celebrate completion of home program
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The successful completion of the Southard Homes Infill Project #1 was celebrated Monday by community leaders, marking a major milestone in the region's Homes for the FutureProgram. The event brought together Thrive West Central, in partnership with Southard Homes, LLC, the Wabash River Regional Development Authority (RDA), the City of Terre Haute, and Vigo County to recognize the addition of 15 new, energy-efficient, single-family homes on previously vacant lots throughout the City of Terre Haute. Developed by Billy Southard of Southard Homes, LLC, each home includes three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and ranges from 1,100 to 1,200 square feet. All 15 homes have been sold, with new homeowners already moved in. 'This project is a testament to the power of local and regional collaboration,' said Ryan Keller, CEO of Thrive West Central. 'Through the Homes for the Future Program, we are not only addressing our region's housing needs—we're investing in families, neighborhoods, and the long-term vitality of Terre Haute. These 15 homes are just the beginning.' The project was made possible by funding from READI 1.0 and reflected the shared commitment of local, regional, and state partners—including the Wabash River RDA, Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), Mayor Brandon Sakbun, Vigo County Commissioners and both the City and County Councils. Thrive celebrates completion of housing project
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — There was a celebration Tuesday, for the completion of a new housing project in Terre Haute. Thrive West Central and the City of Terre Haute, presented over $77,000 to Wallace Building Contractors. The builder constructed eight homes on College Street through Thrive's Homes for the Future Program. Thrive West Central celebrates new housing development Assisted through funding from the city's ARPA funds, this money will help the builder offset infrastructure costs. That fund is used as an incentive for homebuilders and developers to construct new homes in the area. 'This is a phenomenal program. I think we're up to 288 housing units created here within the city of Terre Haute alone and that is somewhere around a $66 million private sector investment into our community and throughout the year of 2025 and 2026, we will continue to see those numbers just escalate,' said Ryan Keller CEO of Thrive West Central.
