Honda X-ADV: The scooter with adventure bike genes

Honda's global two-wheeler business is undoubtedly filled with products of all shapes and sizes, and there's now a maxi-scooter on sale in India which is sure to raise eyebrows, in a good way. The X-ADV is priced at Rs 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and for that, one gets a scooter that is large enough to dwarf most big motorcycles in the market. As far as dimensions are concerned, it's 2,215mm long, 940mm wide, and 1,370mm tall. It has a seat height of 820mm, ground clearance of 165mm and a fairly large fuel tank capacity of 13.2 litres. The X-ADV tips the scale at 237kg and has a healthy wheelbase of 1,590mm. 2025 Honda X-ADV advertisementHonda's maxi-scooter is powered by a 745cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin SOHC motor, which churns out 58.5bhp@6,750rpm and 69 Nm@4,750rpm, whilst being mated to a six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Furthermore, the X-ADV gets ride-by-wire technology and four riding modes as well. These include Standard, Sport, Rain and Gravel, clearly pointing towards this maxi-ADV's intentions. There's also an additional 'User' mode that allows for customisation. That's not all, it is also equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and cruise control. 2025 Honda X-ADV In terms of cycle parts, the X-ADV gets 41mm upside-down forks (USDs) up front, a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear, and sits on a tubular steel frame. It is shod in 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, with a 296mm disc up front with dual radial mount four-piston callipers. The braking duties at the back are handled by a 240mm disc with a single piston calliper. As is the norm, it gets dual-channel ABS, as well. The X-ADV is capable of reaching a claimed top speed of 168kmph, and has an oil capacity of 4 litres. 2025 Honda X-ADV advertisementOther noteworthy highlights include the LED lighting all around, which looks particularly distinct in the front with that dual setup, and the DRLs. There's also an adjustable screen for those long rides, and behind it sits the five-inch TFT display, which gets Honda RoadSync app connectivity, with call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, as well as music control and voice commands. One neat addition here is that the X-ADV features self-cancelling indicators, which double up as the aforementioned DRLs. 2025 Honda X-ADV Since this is a scooter, and a large one at that, it gets a 22-litre storage compartment, and a redesigned seat which claims to make getting in and out of the saddle easy, without compromising long-distance comfort. To further add to the convenience features, there's also a USB-C charging port. Interested buyers of the Honda X-ADV can choose between two colour options - Pearl Glare White and Graphite Black. However, in the UK, there are two additional colours called Matte Goldfinch Yellow and Matte and Matte Deep Mud Grey, which look quite cool. 2025 Honda X-ADV Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has stated that deliveries will commence in June 2025, and this maxi-scooter with ADV credentials will be sold through Honda BigWing dealerships across India, as the other bigger offerings from the Japanese automotive giant. It's important to note that this is now the most expensive scooter on sale in the country, surpassing the BMW C 400 GT, which also happens to be the only competition it has in to Auto Today Magazine
