Nicolas Cage Explains Why His Relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker Was Short-Lived

Nicolas Cage thinks he knows why he and Sarah Jessica Parker didn't go the distance The two actors briefly dated around the time of their 1992 romcom Honeymoon in Vegas Both have since married and had kids with their spousesNicolas Cage has a pretty good idea as to why his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker didn't last long. The Longlegs actor, 61, admitted that he likely bombed his first impression when he met the Sex and the City star's mother in the late '90s, in a statement to E! News on Monday, July 14. "I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the Mom test," Cage told the outlet. "I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again." His confession came after Parker, 60, revealed on the Sunday, July 13, episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she and the National Treasure movie star dated around the time of their 1992 romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas — which featured a cameo from a young Bruno Mars as an Elvis Presley impersonator. "Did you date Nic Cage?" Cohen, 57, asked his guest point-blank. "Um, yes, I did," she answered. "Yes, I did." "Oh, wow," Cohen, who happens to be best friends with the actress, replied. "Oh, we got some talking to do." Cage has been married five times, most recently marrying Riko Shibata in a private Las Vegas ceremony in 2021. The actor, whose real name is Nicolas Kim Coppola, is a father to three children: sons Weston Cage Coppola, 34, whom he shares with actress Christina Fulton; Kal-El Coppola, 19, whom he shares with Alice Kim; and daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, whom he welcomed with Shibata on Sept. 7, 2022. Parker has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997 after having their first date in 1992. They share three children together. During her WWHL appearance, she told Cohen how she knew the Ferris Bueller's Day Off star, 63, was the person she wanted to spend her life with. "I just knew he was incredible," the Hocus Pocus star said of Broderick after "spending a little bit of time with him," adding that she knew he was for her "probably pretty early." She was also first to say "I love you" in their relationship. "Nothing to lose, you know what I mean?" Parker confessed of the romantic milestone. The Inspector Gadget star previously appeared on WWHL where he gushed about his wife of more than 30 years. Nicholas Cage Says He Knows Exactly Why Sarah Jessica Parker Ghosted Him

Nicholas Cage is breaking his silence after Sarah Jessica Parker recently confirmed a longstanding rumor that the two actors were romantically involved in the '90s. While appearing on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' Sunday, the 'Sex and the City' alum cleared the air that she did indeed date Cage around the time the two starred in the 1992 rom-com 'Honeymoon in Vegas.' Just a day later, Cage opened up about what he thinks might've caused their relationship to run its course — and it involves Parker's mom. 'I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the Mom Test,' he told E! News in a statement Monday. 'I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again,' Cage said. The 'And Just Like That…' star has not publicly confirmed nor addressed Cage's recollection of their relationship. Representatives for Cage and Parker didn't immediately respond to HuffPost's requests for comment. While sparks didn't quite fly for her and Cage, Parker went on to marry now-husband Matthew Broderick in 1997. They share three children — James, Tabitha and Marion. Before that, she was romantically linked to Robert Downey Jr., whom she reportedly dated for seven years. Cage, meanwhile, has tied the knot five times. He most recently married Riko Shibata in 2021, and the pair welcomed a daughter together in September 2022. The 'Longlegs' star also has two other children from previous relationships. Nicolas Cage on why his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker was short-lived

Actor and film producer Nicolas Cage recently opened up on why his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker was short-lived. "I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the Mom test," Cage was quoted as saying by People magazine. "I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again." His confession came after Parker shared on the Sunday, July 13, episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she and Cage dated around the time of their 1992 romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas. Cage has been married five times, most recently marrying Riko Shibata in a private Las Vegas ceremony in 2021. The actor, whose real name is Nicolas Kim Coppola, is a father to three children: sons Weston Cage Coppola, 34, whom he shares with actress Christina Fulton; Kal-El Coppola, 19, whom he shares with Alice Kim; and daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, whom he welcomed with Shibata on September 7, 2022. Cage's ex, Christina Fulton, sued him over their son's alleged attack. Cage is being sued by his ex nearly a year after their adult son allegedly physically attacked her. In court documents, Christina Fulton alleged that Cage ignored their son Weston Coppola Cage's mental health concerns. Weston and Fulton were allegedly involved in a verbal dispute that turned physical on April 28, 2024. At the time, Fulton denied reports that she and her son argued and instead said he experienced a "mental-health crisis" and she was trying to get him to help. In July 2024, Weston was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and then released on bond. Parker has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997, after having their first date in 1992. They have three children.
