Disney Fan's Wish to Perform on Stage Comes True
HONG KONG SAR - Media OutReach Newswire - 28 April 2025 - To celebrate World Wish Day on April 29, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) recently joined with Make-A-Wish® Hong Kong to grant a magical wish for Yee Sun, a brave 7-year-old girl who was diagnosed with biliary atresia at just two months old and a rare type of lymphoma at four years old. She underwent four times of organ and bone marrow transplant, and a series of chemotherapy before she recovered. Nearly 1,000 guests witnessed her wish come true as she became part of 'Mickey and the Wondrous Book'. 'Who will open the book next? Who has the heart of a storybook hero? Could it be you?' Every time Mickey Mouse asked these questions at the end of 'Mickey and the Wondrous Book,' Yee Sun eagerly raised her hand, hoping to be the one Mickey invited on stage. Her one true wish was to become part of the performance, to stand alongside Mickey and step into the story herself – bringing her wish to life in the most enchanting way. To make her wish come true, HKDL's Entertainment team meticulously crafted a special pre-show moment for her and an appearance in the show. Dressed in a specially designed costume created by the resort's Costuming team and treated to a magical makeover and hairstyling in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Yee Sun was immersed into the show through her experience as a stage performer. After the show, a bonus surprise moment took place– a greeting by her favorite Disney friend, Queen Elsa, who offered her warm words and praise. Ahead of this wish coming to life, Yee Sun dedicated herself to practicing choreography and script every day for a month, even adding personal touches to the script to create a truly engaging performance. Mickey Mouse kicks off Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's 20th anniversary Since Hong Kong Disneyland Resort opened on September 12, 2005, guests have enjoyed the park's unique way of telling Disney stories. Now, the Disney park in Hong Kong, China, is set for a big year in 2025, and it all starts with the kickoff of its 20th anniversary celebrations on June 28. Highlights of the year-long celebration include new entertainment and the largest parade in the park's history. For the park's 15th anniversary, Sleeping Beauty Castle got a major upgrade, becoming the Castle of Magical Dreams, which is inspired by 13 Disney princess stories. The Castle of Magical Dreams marked the first time any Disney castle has been transformed from representing one princess to highlighting multiple. In fiscal year 2024, the resort welcomed a historic 7.7 million guests to the park, increasing park attendance by 21% over the previous year. That led to a cumulative attendance of over 106 million people since the park opened in 2005. 2024 also led to a historic level of net profit, HK$838 million (about $108 million in US dollars), which represents a 54% increase year-over-year. Hong Kong Disneyland to give away 200,000 tickets to charities, NGOs
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will give away 200,000 tickets to charities and NGOs as part of celebrations for its 20th anniversary this year. Advertisement The theme park said on Tuesday that the promotion, which involved giving away double the average 100,000 tickets it handed out every year, would allow recipients to visit once between July 1 this year and June 30, 2026. Registered NGOs and charitable organisations are invited to submit their applications on the theme park's official website up to April 30. In January, the theme park and the Li Ka Shing Foundation gave away 4,200 tickets to domestic helpers, who also received a transport allowance of HK$80 on their Octopus cards and meals valued at HK$365. Hong Kong Disneyland also announced it would host a pre-party event for its 20th anniversary celebrations on April 17, with over 550 guests attending, including Disney fans, media representatives and content creators from key markets such as mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore.
