Soon Huat-Shevon, Pang Ron-Su Yin on collision course in Paris
KUALA LUMPUR: Sixth seeds Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai could be on a collision course with compatriots Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin in the third round of the World Championships in Paris from August 25-31.
Both pairs have been handed first-round byes and must navigate the second round to set up the all-Malaysian showdown.
World No 6 Soon Huat-Shevon hold a 1–0 head-to-head record over the world No 16 duo.
Meanwhile, fourth seeds Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, who received a first-round bye, face a tricky second-round clash against Indonesia's world No 11 pair Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Pasaribu.
The Malaysians, however, boast a 2–0 head-to-head record over their rivals.
The last Malaysians to win a medal in mixed doubles were Koo Kien Keat-Wong Pei Tty who earned bronze in 2006.
