What Happened Today on Bold and the Beautiful May 28: Hope & Carter's Big Announcement
The Bold and the Beautiful recap for May 28 saw Hope and Carter excited for their future and Sheila reminding Luna of her very shady and dangerous past. Hope (Annika Noelle) woke up at Carter's (Lawrence Saint-Victor) loft and enjoyed her first morning as a freshly engaged woman. They were excited to spend the rest of their lives together. Hope couldn't wait to go to the office and spread the news. However, Carter was worried about how some people (ahem, Ridge & Steffy) would take the news. Hope eased those worries with a kiss and promised nothing…and no one…could knock them off this pink cloud. Meanwhile, over at the office, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) asked what her plans were for Hope. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) wasn't sure what her role would be just yet…but did warn she wasn't about to reinstate her line. Brooke understood and was just happy the dust was settling and Hope was getting her life together again. Steffy then updated them that Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) is gone. She took flight to Paris and as much as Steffy wants her to come back, she doubted they'd see her again anytime soon. MORE: Find out what's coming up next on B&B! Later, Carter and Hope showed up at the office and were over the moon to make their big announcement. Hope jumped right into a speech about love and light before showing off her dreamy ring and telling the trio she and Carter were engaged. As you can imagine, Brooke was thrilled. Steffy and Ridge slapped some smiles on their faces and joined in the celebration but it was clear they weren't exactly elated for the couple. Carter and Hope understood their apprehension and promised their union would never be a threat to the company…or the Forresters ever again. All the while, Luna (Lisa Yamada) sent a flirty text to Will (Crew Morrow) before chatting with her grandmother. Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) called her out on her antics and reminded her that Will is a very taken man. She needs to stay away from him…and stay away from Finn (Tanner Novlan), too. It was time for Luna to learn to take 'no' for an answer and respect it. Luna didn't love the lecture but Sheila was unrelenting about getting her granddaughter to lower her expectations. She even reminded her of her past crimes and how low she would go. Does she want to go down a dark path again? MORE: Is THIS happy couple headed for disaster? As for Will, he didn't even try to hide the fact Luna was texting him. He saw it come though and showed Electra (Laneya Grace) right away. He even told her about all the other times Luna has sent him lusty messages. Electra was furious but stopped Will from blocking the baddie. It was better to see what she was saying than being in the dark. With that, Will left for a meeting and Electra plotted her next move. Sheila ran off to grab some supplies and walked out mere seconds before Electra showed up to put Luna on notice. She told her to keep her hands, and her sexy messages, to herself, or else! Or else what, exactly? Luna wanted to know. Electra wasn't about to back down. She went toe to toe with the baddie and didn't even flinch when Luna started making threats of her own.

He continues his impassioned speech to her, letting her know she's the best thing that's ever happened to him. He asks her to marry him, but she stays silent. Taylor (Rebecca Budig) finds Steffy (Lawrence Saint-Victor) in the office late. Taylor knows she's been taking care of Liam and cautions her daughter that there are only so many hours in the day. She offers to stop in and check on him now that Liam knows what's going on. Steffy hates keeping the secret from Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), who walks in at that moment. Liam (Scott Clifton) and Kelly (Sophia Paras McKinlay) are in the middle of an intense game of Go Fish. Kelly is so happy to have Liam staying with them and she never wants her father to leave. Liam looks distressed as he holds her so Kelly asks if he's sad. Finn (Tanner Novlan) walks in as Liam tells Kelly how happy she makes him. As he hugs her, Liam and Finn share a look. Steffy greets her father while Taylor says she's been looking for Ridge. Ridge says it's time for them to come clean and he thinks it has something to do with Hope. He wants to know what changed Steffy's mind about allowing Hope back to the company. Carter says he wants to start their happy ever after right away, but Hope says she thought they already had that. When he tells her to trust him, he realizes it's hard because of the betrayal. Hope knows he was sincere in his apology, but a proposal is a 'big step' that she's clearly not ready for. Finn asks who won the game? Liam says Kelly won again. Kelly tells Finn she loves having her father living with them. Finn diplomatically says Liam will eventually leave, as will she after she grows up. Liam says even when she's grown up, she'll never be alone. Steffy says she took a 'hard line' about the takeover, but her perspective shifted. Ridge says Hope said the same thing and Taylor says that's exactly what they all want. But Ridge won't let it go, he wants to know what the 'other priorities' are. Hope wasn't expecting a proposal so soon after reuniting. Carter says he would marry her on the spot if he could. Carter knows he broke her trust and promises he'll never let that happen again. But he wouldn't be there with a ring if he didn't think he could be the man she needs. Finn checks his phone and sees a text from Dr. Buckingham asking if Liam knows what he wants to do about treatment. Liam returns from putting Kelly to bed. They share a moment talking about the kids. Liam asks if Finn told Li about his condition, but Finn promises he hasn't said a word to anyone. Liam thanks him; he knows Steffy told Taylor but understands Steffy needed someone to talk to. Finn is happy to be there to help, telling him that he needs to focus on living, not dying. He knows it, as a doctor, a father and a husband. Liam says he was watching Kelly fall asleep and he knows he can't keep his secret from the kids for much longer. He doesn't know how to tell them that he's dying, but he has to figure out how to say goodbye to his daughters. Steffy doesn't want to give Ridge the wrong impression. She and Hope still have things to work out, but they are making progress. Ridge asks what they're going to do with Hope, prompting Taylor to ask if she's going to re-launch Hope for the Future. Steffy says that's a decision for her, Ridge and Eric. 'And Carter,' Taylor adds. She notes that Carter must be very happy having Hope back. Hope admits she's been thinking about having a life with Carter. She points out that she's never felt a man's full commitment to her and she doesn't want to settle for anything less. He promises all of that, and more. 'Just say yes,' he says. Ridge asks if Steffy knows anything about Hope and Carter getting back together. Steffy says she has concerns about Hope and Carter 2.0 after the coup, but ultimately she wants them to be happy. Finn says when the time comes, Liam will know what to say to Kelly. And Steffy can be there with him. Liam says Steffy has been his rock, but so, too, has Finn. He's been more than just a doctor, he's been a great friend and it is very comforting knowing Finn will be there. Finn tells Liam about the text and asks if he's thought about the treatment? Liam says he's hoping to make sure the kids are ok. He knows Steffy has Finn, so he's hoping Hope can have Carter. He knows Hope could have an amazing life with him if Hope will only say yes to it. Carter continues his plea for Hope to say yes. He says he can make sure he'll be the best stepfather he can be to Beth. And maybe they'll have a child of their own, which makes Hope laugh. He says he believes in their love more than ever and he promises that being her husband will always come first. He asks her again to marry him, and Hope says yes. 'Yes, Carter Walton, I will be your wife,' she says. They share a kiss and lots of laughs before he slides the ring on her finger. She knows he and Brooke have history with their customers and that's part of his industry. She truly believes in the two of them, 'despite Brooke.' He smiles at her. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) tells Hope (Annika Noelle) that she doesn't want to give up on Ridge. Hope knows that his relationship with Taylor came as a result of taking the CEO position. Brooke appreciates that Hope told Ridge that the takeover was wrong. Hope says she's recently come to understand that life is too short for grudges, so if Brooke wants to be with Ridge, she wants her to be with him. Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) can't believe that Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) has fallen in love again…with Hope. Taylor giggles as Ridge tells her that her smile is 'more radiant' when she's confident. He wants to be sure that seeing him with Brooke on the runway doesn't bother her. She's happy that the show was a hit, and Brooke deserves credit for her starring role. But Ridge comes home to Taylor every night, so she wins. Brooke is thrilled to hear that Hope is back with Carter again. She's so happy for her daughter. Daphne reminds Carter what Hope said to Liam, but he says he misinterpreted them. He's the man Hope wants. 'I'm her future.' Ridge says he enjoys this version of Taylor because this confident version of her is the woman he fell in love with. He likes her a lot, he teases, telling her that she's 'transformed' his life and made him see that love doesn't have to be complicated. They joke about drama, but he appreciates being able to hold each other after the drama and 'making love with wild abandon.' And growing old together. Brooke wasn't sure Hope would get back with Carter, but she's glad it happened. Hope admits she was still feeling hurt, but she understands that guilt isn't worth it. A friend reminded her that all of those moments shouldn't be wasted on anger. They're human and they all make mistakes, but what she has with Carter is special, and they want to make the most of it, no matter 'how much time' they have left. Hope is forced to backtrack when Brooke says she's sounding 'morbid.' Daphne can't process that Carter misunderstood what Hope said. She warns Carter that Hope is trying to make excuses, but he says it was a complete misunderstanding. She hates thinking he's putting his trust in her, and she could hurt him. He says nothing — and no one — is ever going to come between them. Taylor asks Ridge if he ever thinks about everything they've been through. She points out that they have so much history, and they were different people in the early days. He agrees that they're older and wiser, and she jokes about aging. She appreciates where they are after working so hard. 'This is it, Ridge, finally,' she says. 'This is our time. The best chapter of our lives.' She kisses him. Brooke is glad one of them is figuring things out, noting that life is difficult and people make mistakes. Hope says it's a relief after the craziness she's been through the past few weeks. Brooke says Hope has a bright future ahead of her. Hope sighs, thinking about telling Carter about Liam's condition. Carter tells Daphne that he knows this isn't what she wanted to hear. Daphne can't believe Carter is saying this, because why else would Hope say those words if she didn't mean them? Surely Hope wants to be with Liam, and she's going to be with Liam. Carter says that won't be the case. His tone is sober, because he knows the truth. He says that Daphne has been wonderful and he appreciates that she was there for him, but they're not going to end up together. She knows how much Carter cares for Hope. 'Au revoir, Carter Walton,' she says as she walks out the door. There's a knock on Carter's door. It's Hope, and she greets him with a hug. He asks how Brooke felt about the news that they're together, and he's glad Brooke kept encouraging him. They pledge to be 'all in' with each other, and she believes in him. She knows he won't let her down again. Ridge is in his office, alone, and he thinks back to his time with Taylor and how she mentioned their shared history. Taylor is thinking the same thing. 'A lifetime of memories, and many more to come.' Ridge looks at the photo of Brooke on the runway. He thinks about Brooke telling him that she wants to move forward with their lives, as she asks if he wants a future together. She wants him to come home, and she wants to be his Logan again. He thinks back to their wedding. He thinks of their time in Rome, where he asked her to be 'his Logan forever.' Brooke, in the design office, thinks about her memories with Ridge and says that after all they've been through, she believes in him and in their destiny. The mother of two made the announcement while appearing on the Today show, sharing with fans how her daughter Hope's recent health struggles had been a major driver in her decision to step down. The good news is that Hope is doing well now, but it sounds like she has a lifetime of monitoring her health to ensure that she stays that way. Kotb talked about the diagnosis, and how her constant worrying about how she was doing at home led her to step down from her position at NBC. 'As anyone with a child who has Type I [knows], especially a little kid, you're constantly watching, you're constantly monitoring, you're constantly checking, which is what I did all the time when I was [at 'Today.'] You're distracted,' Kotb explained, adding that the diagnosis had her rethinking her priorities as a working mom. "I can be here and sweating what's happening to Hope in the morning and in the night, or I can be there and feel relief that I can see,' she continued, nothing that her daughter is fine most of the day, but there are times when she needs a bit more attention from her mother. Fortunately, those large chunks of time where Hope is okay is what gets Kotb through the day, according the mom, who said she did the math and discovered that her daughter has 23.5 good hours a day. "So, for 23 and a half hours, she's every other kid. So I try to remember that.' While Kotb did reiterate that Hope's health was in good shape these days, and even explained how her daughter had been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed each day over the past year, she does still worry about her little girl... as any mom would. Here's hoping that Kotb and her family continue to be in good health, and that the proud mama enjoys this extra time with her family, even if it did come as a result of something scary and stressful.
