Bikers ready to roll at 3rd annual Crankworx Summer Series

The dirt has settled and free-riding mountain bikers are ready as the third annual Crankworx Summer Series returns to Horseshoe Valley Resort.
The series kicked off Thursday and runs all weekend long.
Christopher Colepitts, manager of Crankworx Summer Series, said bikers are ready to take on the fully customized tracks.
'The slopestyle is fully a customized course... and the rest of the trails are very friendly to everyone to come out and downhill trail ride or the dual slalom,' said Colepitts. 'I think there's something for everyone.'
The event gains traction among participants and fans every year.
'It's been fantastic to see the growth and the community getting behind it and it's been a fantastic location,' said Colepitts. 'Tapping into access mountain biking here in Ontario.'
Horseshoe Valley Resort plays host to one of the locations of the summer's worldwide circuit series.
'Crankworx has another level in Australia and New Zealand and in Whistler,' said Colepitts. 'And then the summer series locations- one in New Zealand, one in New Brunswick, and one in DC as well.'
Riders from all across the globe and locally have made their way here for the series.
'It's nice to just bring everyone together because everyone's passionate about mountain biking and just being on bikes and being able to showcase that,' said Colepitts. 'It gives something for the spectators, as well, to come and just be able to view the uniqueness of the sport.'
The event offers plenty for the fans beyond the lineup.
'As a spectator, we have a wonderful vendor village from anything from different bike products to different beverage sampling that you can have,' said Amber Currie, director of sales. 'And new this year, we've created a passport program where you can go around to each, vendor, get it stamped, and then get entered to win a variety of different prizes from our, vendors that we have here as well.'
