Karnataka Man Accuses Wife Of Forced Conversion, Threatening Him With False Rape Case

Last Updated: A Karnataka man has alleged that his wife and her family coerced him into religious practices and secretly changed his name during a Muslim wedding ceremony. A man in Karnataka has accused his wife of forcing him to convert to Islam and threatening him with rape complaints if he did not obey her. According to an NDTV report, the man, Vishal Kumar Gokavi, hailing from the Gadag district of the state, alleged he had been in a relationship with Tahseen Hosamani for three years. They got their marriage registered in November 2024. However, Hosamani forced him they marry again as per Muslim customs, he alleged, as per the report. As he agreed to the same, their marriage rituals according to Islamic traditions concluded on April 25. Gokavi has now claimed that his name was changed without his knowledge during the ceremony. He also said he was unknowingly converted by a 'Maulvi' (Muslim cleric) during the event, according to the report. Later, as the man's family wanted them to marry as per Hindu traditions, Hosamani protested to the same under pressure from her family, the man claimed. He also alleged that Hosamani and her mother, Begum Banu, had forced him to offer namaz and attend jamaat, according to the report. As the case was reported, the police registered a complaint under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class) and Section 302 (protects individuals from actions intended to harm their religious sentiments) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Last week, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a man in Shahjahanpur after a woman alleged that he sexually exploited her for two years, made objectionable videos and pressured her to convert to Islam. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi told PTI on Sunday that the 32-year-old woman alleged in her complaint that the man, Mohammad Naveed alias Qasim Pathan, befriended her on Instagram two years ago by posing as a Hindu. The police registered a case against Naveed, his brother Kaif, Akil, Alam, Uzma and Shaman under sections related to rape, forced abortion and relevant provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Karnataka Man Alleges Wife Forced Him To Convert After Marriage, Case Filed

Bengaluru: A man in Karnataka's Gadag district has alleged that he was forced to convert by his wife after their marriage. Vishal Kumar Gokavi said he had been in a relationship with Tahseen Hosamani for three years. He said they then registered their marriage in November 2024. However, after the marriage, Hosamani, he alleged, pressured him to marry again as per Muslim customs. Wanting to maintain peace in their relationship, he agreed and got married according to Muslim rituals on April 25. Gokavi has now claimed that his name was changed without his knowledge during the ceremony. He also said he was unknowingly converted by a 'Maulvi' (Muslim cleric) during the event. A video has gone viral that shows Gokavi getting married to Hosamani as per Muslim customs. After the ceremony, he said his family was preparing a wedding with Hindu rituals on June 5. He alleged that Hosamani had initially agreed, but later backed out under pressure from her family. Gokavi claimed that she warned him that if he did not convert to Islam, she would file a rape case against him. He also alleged that Hosamani and her mother, Begum Banu, had forced him to offer namaz and attend jamaat. Green gram, fenugreek seeds from UAS Dharwad on board Axiom-4

Dharwad: Axiom-4 mission has been successfully launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, with Indian astronaut, Shubhanshu Shukla, Group Captain, Indian Air Force as one of the crew members and India is proud of him. Meanwhile, India has another reason to be proud because the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad has been involved in the mission by sending dry seeds of green gram and fenugreek (methi) to the International Space Station (ISS) for space-based nutritional research. Dr Ravikumar Hosamani, assistant professor, department of biotechnology at UAS Dharwad and the principal investigator of the project, told TOI that Indian astronaut Shubhanshu will add water to these seeds to dehydrate them, which will begin to sprout within 2-4 days. "The sprouts will then be frozen on the space station until they return to Earth. Upon their return, we will assess the sprouting rate (germination) of seeds, evaluate their nutritional quality, analyse changes in phytohormone dynamics, and study the sprout transcriptome response to space conditions. Additionally, we plan to investigate microbial growth in the space sprout. This research will contribute to the development of India- centric salad vegetable for astronaut nourishment in space in the future" Dr Hosamani explained. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Dr Hosamani stated that sprouted seeds are known to be nutrient-dense, offering greater dietary value than many whole salad plants. "Green gram is a traditional semi-arid sprout commonly used in Indian cuisine, while fenugreek (Methi) offers significant medicinal benefits and is rich in nutraceuticals. For instance, fenugreek is widely reported to boost immune function, improve bone health, minimize the risk of kidney stone formation and address cardiovascular issues. Coincidently, these are also eminent health risks associated with the human crew in space," Dr Hosamani said. The frozen sprouts are expected to be shipped back to UAS Dharwad within the next 14 days. Detailed nutritional and physiological assessments will begin upon their arrival. The project is being conducted in collaboration with Dr Sudheer Siddapureddy, associate professor at IIT-Dharwad, who serves as the co-investigator.

Seeds for space: Green gram and fenugreek from Dharwad sent to ISS for experiment

As Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's Axiom-4 mission (Ax-4) to the International Space Station (ISS) was launched successfully on Wednesday, the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) has something to cheer about. Along with Mr. Shubhanshu, the seeds sent by the university will also be reaching the ISS. In an experiment that is of relevance to the crew's nutrition, principal investigator from UAS, Dharwad, Ravikumar Hosamani, and co-investigator Sudheer Siddapureddy from IIT-Dharwad have taken up the project under which two types of seeds — green gram and fenugreek (methi) — have reached the ISS for an experiment. Prof. Hosamani, an assistant professor of biotechnology in UAS-D, and Prof. Siddapureddy, associate professor from IIT-Dharwad, were in the United States of America between June 2 and 11 for the project. 'We personally handed over the seeds in dry form to the integration team at the Kennedy Space Centre-NASA,' Prof. Hosamani told The Hindu. Sprouting in space In the experiment, Mr. Shukla will add water to these seeds, which are likely to begin sprouting within two to four days. The sprouts will then be frozen on the space station until they return to earth. Upon their return, officials would assess the sprouting rate (germination) of seeds, evaluate their nutritional quality, analyse changes in phytohormone dynamics, and study the sprout transcriptome response to space conditions. This apart, they plan to investigate microbial growth in the space sprout, Prof. Hosamani said. This research is aimed at contributing towards the development of India-centric salad vegetables for astronaut nourishment in space as a plant-based food production system is crucial for supporting long-term human space exploration. Mature plants 'While salad crops like lettuce, tomato, radish, cabbage, carrot, and onion are considered ideal for supplementing the crew's diet in space, the cultivation of mature plants in space required complex controlled environments. In contrast, sprouting salad seeds in space can be achieved with a simple container and a manual water injection system, without the need for light and other electronics,' he said. Green gram is a traditional semi-arid sprout commonly used in Indian cuisine, while fenugreek (methi) offers significant medicinal benefits and is rich in nutraceuticals. The investigators believe that considering the high cost involved in sending food to the ISS, growing two fresh vegetables onboard spacecraft or on extraplanetary surfaces could be an ideal solution for supplementing crew diets.
