KOTA BHARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited popular comedian Mohammad Amirullah Azmi, known as Amir Raja Lawak, at his shop near Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium. The visit lasted about 30 minutes and was joined by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud. Anwar expressed concern for Amir's father, who is undergoing colon cancer treatment at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian. As a gesture of support, Anwar and Mohd Nassuruddin presented a cash donation to Amir. The meeting followed Amir's Facebook post expressing his wish to meet the Prime Minister. Amir shared his gratitude, stating he was deeply moved by Anwar's visit. He revealed that he had posted on Facebook knowing Anwar would attend the MADANI Rakyat Programme nearby. Amir initially doubted the Prime Minister would be aware of his personal struggles. He was later informed by Anwar's political secretary, Datuk Farhan Fauzi, about the planned visit. Amir expressed surprise at the presence of other senior leaders alongside the Prime Minister. - Bernama

KOTA BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has spent about 30 minutes visiting popular comedian Mohammad Amirullah Azmi, better known as Amir Raja Lawak, at the latter's shop near the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, here on Saturday (Aug 9). Anwar was accompanied by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud. During the meeting with Amir, 36, Anwar expressed concern for the comedian's father, who is undergoing treatment for colon cancer at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), in Kubang Kerian. As a gesture of support, Anwar and Mohd Nassuruddin presented a cash donation to Amir. The visit followed Amir's Facebook post, where he expressed his wish to meet the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Amir expressed his gratitude and said he was deeply moved to meet Anwar. "I only posted on Facebook because I knew the Prime Minister would be attending the closing ceremony of the Madani Rakyat Programme near my shop. "I asked who was arranging for his (Anwar's) presence and I didn't think the Prime Minister himself knew about my problem. Amir said that he was informed by the Prime Minister's political secretary Datuk Farhan Fauzi that Anwar would be stopping by his shop. "I am very grateful and surprised. I thought that only the Prime Minister would be present, but many other senior leaders were there as well," he said. – Bernama

KOTA BHARU: Police are conducting a comprehensive investigation involving various angles into the case of a spa owner who was the victim of a liquid attack believed to be acid being thrown at her in an incident in Bachok on May 17. Kelantan police chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the investigation is also taking into account the possibility of involving close individuals and family members of the victim to assist in the investigation. 'The motive for the incident has yet to be ascertained and we are still waiting for the results of the analysis from the Chemistry Department regarding the three fingerprints found at the scene of the incident,' he said in a press conference after attending the Kelantan Police Chief's 2025 Town Hall Session at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, here today. On May 17, a female spa operator was splashed with a liquid believed to be acid by an unknown individual near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Tawang. The victim, who suffered burns to her shoulder, back, arms and legs, is currently in stable condition and is being treated at the Fire Treatment Unit Ward, Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian.
