Kevin Liles Details Alleged $30M Extortion Plot From Rapper Lady Luck
Former Def Jam executive Kevin Liles has released a lengthy statement alleging rapper Lady Luck is attempting to extort him to the tune of $30M. The post, which can be found on Liles' official Instagram page, finds the music industry pro asserting that Luck, born Shanell Jones, and her legal team sent him a letter three weeks ago stating that she would move forward with a lawsuit and tell-all book 'riddled with utterly false and horrendous accusations' if he doesn't cough up $30M. According to Liles, the letter from Luck's team accuses him of 'grooming' her as a young artist, and of exposing himself and attempting to 'force' her into performing oral sex on him while she sat in the driver's seat of his car. 'None of this ever happened,' he states. 'Her threatened allegations are totally false. And they are contradicted by Ms. Jones many public statements about me and her experience at Def Jam.' 'Rather than pay her and her legal team, I am publicly addressing what I view to be an extortion attempt,' he added. Liles went on to detail signing Lady Luck in 1999 after hearing her rap on Hot 97. While he was able to secure her major features and opportunities, she was unable to become a 'household name' while on the label and asked to be released a 'few years later.' He then notes Luck's criminal history — including felony convictions for armed robbery and heroin distribution — before saying he continued to help her as recently as last year when she sought distribution for a new record. 'After connecting her with the former head of my distribution company, she did an interview stating that I was helping her with distribution, describing it as a 'full f**king circle moment.'' Liles continuously declared his 'empathy' for Luck, but added that he, 'will not be extorted, nor will I pay a dollar to those who threaten to ruin my reputation or the legacy I intend to leave the culture I've spent my life serving.' See his full post below. VIBE has reached out to a rep for Lady Luck for comment. Liles' statement comes three months after being sued — alongside Universal Music Group and Def Jam — for sexual assault by a former employee. He has denied all allegations. Listen to Wendy Williams' 'gay rappers' bombshell that saw Diddy 'get her FIRED from hit radio show'
As jurors hear testimony about Sean ' Diddy ' Combs sexual exploits with male escorts, a decades-old clip of Wendy Williams talking about gay rappers has resurfaced. Williams previously claimed that she was fired from popular New York City radio show Hot 97 in 1998 after sharing her belief that Combs was gay. She supposedly claimed to have a photo of Diddy being intimate with a man. She also made scandalous remark about the percentage of gay entertainers during a Hot 97 segment addressing the allegations that then-basketball star Eddy Curry had made sexual advances at his male driver. Williams, during the broadcast, cited her 'inside' experience in the entertainment industry as evidence to support self-proclaimed statistics for the percentage of rappers and pro-athletes who were gay. She claimed that 'two out of ten' players and 'five out of ten in music' were gay. The former talk show host has not publicly named Combs as the party responsible for her ousting from Hot 97, but has implied it in interviews. Williams went on to become a superstar talk show host, but famously continued sharing criticism of Diddy. The resurfaced clip from Williams' stint on the radio program shows an interaction between the star and listener who called in. 'Do you really think that every player is gay or every other player is?' the caller and self-identified fan asked. 'Are you a little gay obsessed?' Williams quickly hit back, saying: 'I'm not gay obsessed and every other would be an exaggeration. But I would say two out of ten in sports and five out of ten in music.' 'I don't think that's gay obsessed. I think that's after being in this business for over 20-something years and seeing things from the inside out, and the outside in,' she continued. She said when she first met her then-husband TV producer Kevin Hunter that he thought it was 'going to be a one-night stand with this gay obsessed person'. 'Big Kev has never been more wrong about both things,' she told the caller. 'First of all, I wasn't a one-night stand. Second of all, I was more dead on than he, as a person who used to listen when I did the Top Eight at 8, was willing to give me credit for. 'So yeah, I think you have to be on the inside more.' She then probed the caller about her career, which she said was in pharmaceutical sales, and said: 'I am not offended about you questioning, but I think you have to be more on the inside to understand what I'm saying.' The caller, with a bit of disbelief in her tone, concedes, saying: 'Okay, I get it.' But Williams interrupts her and says the caller does not have to agree with her analysis. 'You can choose to believe that everything's all hetero and all masculine. And I choose to -' the host said, before the caller cut her off. 'I don't think that, but I just noticed you do a lot of the "how you doing" - and I love it, it's hilarious. But I was just wondering if you really think that and also if you think coffee's gay,' she continued. Williams replied 'You haven't gotten the memo?', before queuing up a song. She was fired from Hot 97 in 1998, with Williams suggesting during an interview with Howard Stern years later that Combs was largely responsible for her termination. 'I got exiled from New York by Hot 97,' she told Stern in 2006. Williams said she sued the station and 'won', noting that the whole incident stemmed from 'gay rappers and exposing'. 'Did you get fired for making fun of puffy?' Williams was directly asked. She answered: 'Listen, you figure it out. You do the music of what was playing back in... 1998 on the majority of every radio station, 25 times an hour.' Combs' former security guard also Gene Deal seemed to confirm the claim in 2022. '[Diddy] got one of the hottest DJs off Hot 97 because she wanted to put up a picture of him getting his pants pulled down,' Deal said, according to Vibe. Radio host Charlamagne tha God, who Williams was a mentor to, echoed the claim last year on Andrew Schulz's Flagrant podcast. 'Wendy whole thing with Diddy was gay since the 90s,' he said. 'Wendy was throwing that out there, that's why Wendy got fired from Hot 97.' He doubled down, adding: 'Wendy got fired from Hot 97 by Diddy because that's when Bad Boy was smoking hot. She got fired for putting that out there.' Combs' trial is underway in New York City as the disgraced mogul faces charges of sex-trafficking and racketeering. The music producer, 55, has sat by his team of star lawyers as he is accused of leveraging his wealth and power to oversee a criminal enterprise built around fulfilling his sexual fantasies. Diddy denies all allegations against him. His lawyers argue that all the sexual acts were consensual, and although he could be violent, he never veered into sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, the once powerful music industry icon could face life in prison.

Diddy trial live: Sean Combs accused of getting Wendy Williams FIRED for 'outing him as gay'
Sean ' Diddy ' Combs's trial is underway in New York City as the disgraced mogul faces charges of sex-trafficking and racketeering. The music producer, 55, has sat by his team of star lawyers as he is accused of leveraging his wealth and power to oversee a criminal enterprise built around fulfilling his sexual fantasies. Diddy denies all allegations against him. His lawyers admit he's a woman beater - although he does not face domestic abuse charges - but that he is not guilty of sex trafficking or racketeering. As the trial continues, social media users have been sharing old clips of Wendy Williams ' claims against the rapper - including that she was fired from her radio job after saying the music mogul was gay. New evidence in Tory Lanez case sparks fresh debate
The Tory Lanez saga has taken another dramatic turn. On Wednesday, 14 May, Lanez's legal team dropped a bombshell at a press conference in Los Angeles. They claim new evidence proves Lanez did not shoot Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Instead, they point at Megan's former best friend, Kelsey Harris. The fresh twist comes from Bradley James, a former bodyguard for Kelsey Harris. James says he overheard Harris admit to firing the gun. 'She had the gun, she fired it three times. Mr Peterson (Tory Lanez) grabbed her arm and knocked it down. The gun then fired two more times,' James revealed at the press conference. He says his conscience wouldn't let him stay silent while 'a man sits in prison for something he didn't do'. James's claims line up with the testimony of Sean Kelly, the only neutral witness at the original trial, according to Hot 97. Kelly said he saw two women fighting before two men intervened. Shots then rang out from the passenger side, where Harris was sitting. Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence. His legal team insists he never fired the gun. 'Mr Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched the gun,' said attorney Walter Roberts. He also criticised the investigation, noting that only Lanez's DNA was tested, even though unknown DNA was found on the weapon. Gianno Caldwell, a journalist and Lanez supporter, was blunt. 'Mr Peterson was never given a fair trial, free from bias, political interference and media-driven pressure,' he said. Caldwell also questioned why Harris pleaded the Fifth Amendment when she wasn't under investigation. 'Why plead the fifth? What also shocked me is the prosecution gave her immunity for what?' he asked. Tory Lanez's father, Sonstar Peterson, made an emotional appeal. 'It was supposed to be a forum in which it would be decided based on all the circumstances. But it had already been decided behind closed doors,' he said. Supporters argue that this is a 'travesty of justice' and are calling on California's governor to review the case. Neither Megan Thee Stallion nor Kelsey Harris has responded to these new claims. The evidence has yet to be verified by a court, but the story is far from over. For South Africans, the case is a reminder that justice must be fair, transparent, and free from bias, regardless of where it happens in the world. As Diana London, CEO of the Secret Weapon Agency, put it: 'Tory Lanez doesn't want special treatment. He's demanding equal treatment. When we get it wrong, we erode trust in the rule of law itself'.
