Happy Gilmore 2 leaves fans in 'hysterics' with surprise cameo as sequel packed with guest stars

Happy Gilmore 2 was released on Netflix on Friday with Adam Sandler reprising his role in a follow up to the hit 1996 comedy Netflix viewers have hailed a surprise cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 as 'perfect', leaving them in stitches over the comedy sequel. ‌ After nearly three decades of anticipation, the Adam Sandler golf comedy was finally released on the streaming platform this Friday (25th July). ‌ Despite boasting an extensive filmography, legendary comedian Sandler has only made sequels to three of his films before Happy Gilmore 2. ‌ Grown Ups marked the first time he reprised a character, followed by Hotel Transylvania and Murder Mystery. Fans were convinced they would never see the day when he'd revisit the rough-around-the-edges golfer with a heart of gold, reports the Manchester Evening News. ‌ The original Happy Gilmore saw him abandon his dream of becoming a hockey player after realising his anger turned him into an unconventional golfing sensation. Released in 1996, and starring Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller and the late Carl Weathers, the film became a staple at teenage sleepovers upon its VHS release. In an era where nostalgia is king, Happy Gilmore 2 sees its eponymous character return to the sport he hasn't played since defeating Shooter McGavin in the original. ‌ This time around, Happy is determined to win enough money to afford his daughter's pricey ballet lessons, with Sandler's real-life daughter Sunny Sandler portraying the teenager. While fans initially just wanted to catch up with Happy, it's the celebrity cameos that have become the hot topic on social media. ‌ Golfing legends John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris all make appearances as themselves in the film. The film also features cameos from Benny Safdie of Oppenheimer fame, Spanish musician Bad Bunny, and professional wrestlers MJF and Becky Lynch. NFL star Travis Kelce also appears, along with comedic stars Jon Lovitz, Rob Schneider and Steve Buscemi. There are also appearances from podcasters Bobby Lee and Sean Evans, plus musician Post Malone. ‌ However, the biggest surprise comes in the form of a cameo from none other than rap icon Eminem, who previously shared screen space with Sandler in 2009's Funny People. In a departure from his usual self-portrayals, Marshall Mathers plays a heckler who tries to throw Happy off his game by calling him a 'jack**'. Things don't end well for Eminem, who sports a dark wig and bucket hat, as he ultimately gets thrown into a river with an alligator. ‌ Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions to the unexpected moment. That's a weird sentence." ‌ @LevertonCameron posted: "Eminem's cameo is the best part of #HappyGilmore2." Twitter user @alsopeterbrown expressed: "I am so very pleased to report that #HappyGilmore2 doesn't suck and is genuinely funny with a lot of heart. It's not on par with the original but only being a few strokes behind after three decades away is honestly a gigantic win for modern feature length comedies." Meanwhile, @carmic38304 declared: "HAPPY GILMORE 2, IS HILARIOUSLY GOOD!"

‘Fixed' Trailer: Genndy Tartakovsky's Animated Dog Story is Definitely Not For Kids

For two decades, animation auteur Genndy Tartakovsky has been pushing the limits of kids' animation, via beloved shows like 'Dexter's Laboratory' and 'Samurai Jack.' In recent years, he's largely abandoned the constraints of children's media entirely, with his latest projects like the 'Samurai Jack' reboot and 'Primal' airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block and indulging in violence and gore befitting the grown ups who grew up watching and loving his old classics. His latest project, feature film 'Fixed,' is mature in a completely different way, telling a dog story with wildly puerile and filthy sexual humor. And that's on full display in the Director's Cut trailer, which Netflix released this Thursday. Directed by Tartakovsky and co-written by him and Jon Vitti (best known for his work on 'The Simpsons'), 'Fixed' focuses on 24 hours in the life of Bull (voiced by Adam DeVine), a good-natured bloodhound with a habit of humping everyone around him. When he discovers that his owners are going to neuter him, he journeys out to the city with other dogs in his neighborhood to embark on one last wild night with his balls while he still has them. The red-band trailer shows what that entails, and it includes: Squirrels getting graphically torn up and eaten, rats chewing on comically large dog genitals, and an extended sequence with female dog 'strippers.' Tartakovsky originally conceived of the film in 2009, and it was announced in 2018 after the success of his three 'Hotel Transylvania' films. Produced by Sony, the film was originally set to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures through their New Line Cinema distribution arm, only to get dropped and have its theatrical release canceled in 2024. Netflix would ultimately save the film, acquiring the rights for it earlier this year. Aside from Devine, 'Fixed' features a large ensemble voice cast that includes Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, Beck Bennett, Michelle Buteau, and River Gallo. The movie originally premiered at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 11, and will premiere on Netflix August 13. Watch the complete trailer below. Miley Cyrus reveals why she was fired from Hotel Transylvania: Liam Hemsworth is involved

Did you know it was originally Miley Cyrus, and not Selena Gomez, who was to voice the character of Mavis Dracula, the one and only beloved daughter of the gentle giant Count Dracula in the cult hit animated franchise, Hotel Transylvania (2012)? Well you do, now. But did you know that the Flowers hitmaker, was fired from the gig? During her June 10 appearance on Monica Lewinsky's Reclaiming podcast, Miley went into detail on what exactly happened — and though her then-beau Liam Hemsworth was in no way part of the film, the anecdote is essentially in a way, about him. "I, as a joke, got my boyfriend a penis cake for his birthday and I got fired. I was the lead actress in Hotel Transylvania, and they fired me and replaced me because I had made an inappropriate, adult joke, " revealed Miley. At this point in the anecdote, Miley, now 32, began to differentiate between being an 18-year old young adult, but not really a child — her primary point being that she should have been made to take her own decisions in her personal life, sans the public pressure that came with being a star kid. "I was 18-so yes, I was fine to work in a kids movie but I'm not a kid." And the thing is, it was all a silly little prank, the kind of things every other girl her age was doing and not losing gigs over! Miley explained, "What felt ridiculous to me about getting fired from a penis cake, was that they sell penis cakes like for all bachelorettes. Like in Nashville, Tennessee, you can get penis cakes, it's not that big of a deal. I thought you know this is like a very simple, not vulgar joke, this is silly. And you can do this for all bachelorette parties, they make necklaces and cups and straws and all kinds of stuff". Reflecting on the private-professional divide when it comes to being a public figure, she added, "To be fired you know for regular things that girls my age-they go to bachelorette parties, and they go to Magic Mike shows. But if I was at that time, you know, I wasn't someone that was appropriate for kids, even though that was in my personal life." So does she think today's up and coming kids and young adult public figures have it any easier? "I don't know if we put our Disney kids on the pedestal the way that we used to, our teen stars. But I think that still movies can have consequences for their lead actor or actress doing things that don't align with the audience that the movie is made for, " she said. After Miley was dropped from Hotel Transylvania, the role went to Selena, who without a doubt made Mavis entirely her own!

Miley Cyrus Lost Major Film Role To Selena Gomez After Penis Cake Controversy

Miley Cyrus has opened up about losing high-profile jobs over controversies earlier on in her career. The Grammy winner is currently on the promo trail for her new album Something Beautiful, and recently sat down for an interview with Monica Lewinsky for her podcast Reclaiming. During the conversation, Miley spoke about having her privacy violated from an early age, and how numerous leaked photos and videos cost her several big gigs. '[There was] a bong video when I was 16, and that cost me a very large, multi-multi-million dollar Walmart deal,' she explained. 'I had to email the Walmart CEO an apology for being 16 and smoking weed… which most 16-year-olds do. But my email address at the time was 'Miley loves weed'... and it actually wasn't weed, it was Salvia, but I needed to write to him, 'I'm sorry for smoking weed'. And my mum was like, 'what the hell? What's your email? You have to change that!'. 'He was old, so I changed my email to 'Miley loves old people'. It didn't help very much, I still got fired. But these things that you know… to have adults firing a teenager for smoking pot, and you know when they were 16 or 17 they were smoking weed. 'The difference is, I didn't know I was being filmed. I might have known someone was filming and not cared because I was high on Salvia, but I didn't know that my camera would then get stolen at a teen party, because that's how it got leaked, my backpack got stolen at a party.' Miley then reflected on another controversy from the first few years of her career, when TMZ published pictures of her celebrating then-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth's birthday with a penis-shaped cake. 'As a joke, I got my boyfriend a penis cake for his birthday,' she recalled. 'And I got fired. I was the lead actress in Hotel Transylvania, and they fired me, and replaced me, because I had made an inappropriate adult joke. But I was 18! So yes, I was fine to work in a kids' movie, but I [wasn't] a kid.' Miley was replaced in the film by fellow Disney album Selena Gomez, who went on to return for three big-screen sequels. 'What felt ridiculous to me about getting fired [for] a penis cake is that they sell penis cakes for all bachelorettes. In Nashville, Tennessee, you can get penis cakes,' she quipped. 'It's not that big of a deal. 'So, I thought, 'this is a very simple, not vulgar, joke. This is silly, and you can do this for all bachelorette parties'... it felt ridiculous. 'To be fired for regular things that girls my age [do], but at that time, I wasn't someone that was appropriate for kids, even though that was my personal life. And that photo, again, only revealed itself because the camera had been stolen.' Miley has been getting reflective throughout the promo cycle for her latest album. In the last week, she made headlines when she revealed that Madonna was poised to mud-wrestle Miranda Kerr in one music video from her Bangerz era, before her record label stepped in, also making a surprising admission about another of her collaborators, Dua Lipa. Miley Cyrus reveals brutal career fallout from racy photo leak

Miley Cyrus hasn't forgotten about the penis cake that cost her a job. While appearing on Monica Lewinsky's podcast this week, the 32-year-old singer spoke about being fired from the Hotel Transylvania franchise when she was 18 after a photo emerged of her with a penis cake for her then-boyfriend and now-ex-husband Liam Hemsworth's birthday. 'I, as a joke, got my boyfriend a penis cake for his birthday and I got fired,' she recalled. 'I was the lead actress in Hotel Transylvania and they fired me and replaced me because I had made an inappropriate adult joke. But I was 18.' 'So yes I was fine to work in a kids movie, but I'm not a kid,' Cyrus added. The Hannah Montana star was initially cast as Mavis Dracula in Sony Pictures' first Hotel Transylvania film that came out in 2012. But after the penis cake photo made headlines, she was replaced by fellow former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez, who starred alongside Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James and more. 'What felt ridiculous to me about getting fired for a penis cake was that they sell penis cakes for all bachelorettes,' Cyrus pointed out. 'In Nashville, Tenn., you can get penis cakes. It's not that big of a deal.' 'So I thought this is a very simple, not vulgar joke. This is silly,' she continued. 'You can do this for all bachelorette parties. They make necklaces and cups and straws and all kinds of stuff. It felt ridiculous.' Cyrus went on, 'But to be fired for regular things that girls my age, they go to bachelorette parties and they do this. They go to Magic Mike shows. But at that time, I wasn't someone that was appropriate for kids, even though that was in my personal life.' The Grammy winner also noted that the photo leaked because her backpack and her camera were stolen at a party. '[It was] nothing I posted,' she said. 'I was at a private event at a private party and I got robbed. It's not cool.' Cyrus first revealed the nature behind her Hotel Transylvania firing on Twitter in 2019. At the time, a Sony source told the Hollywood Reporter that Cyrus indeed lost her job because of the penis cake photo and that studio bosses were allegedly nervous about her leading a family-film franchise when she was breaking away from her Disney Channel persona. On the podcast, Cyrus opened up about how she reacted to losing the job. 'At the time, I remember I jumped in the pool and said, 'I'm not gonna come up until you guys get me my job back,'' she recalled. 'It was really upsetting me. I was with my lawyer and my manager at the time and they were freaking out because they didn't realise how much it was hurting me until that moment when they realised I had said what I said.' The Flowers singer added that she started seeing a therapist that same year who helped her 'work through' moments like the penis cake controversy. 'I didn't want to go underwater and not come up,' she said. 'Those moments are real for me. Now they're funny, but they definitely weren't funny then.' When asked if she thinks a similar situation could happen today, Cyrus responded, 'I don't know if we put our Disney kids on the pedestal the way that we used to, our teen stars. But I think that still movies can have consequences for their lead actor or actress doing things that don't align with the audience that the movie is made for.' Earlier in the podcast, Cyrus revealed she lost a deal with Walmart as a teen because of a video of her with a bong. 'I had to email the Walmart CEO and apologise for being 16 and smoking weed, which most 16-year-olds do,' she said.
