J-Lo shares steamy moment with dancers at AMAs

Ten years on from her last American Music Awards hosting gig, pop icon Jennifer Lopez brought her own temperature gauge to the Fontainebleau Las Vegas hotel as she reminded fans she's still one of the hottest live acts in the music industry. Opening the show dressed in a robotic, skin-coloured sequinned jumpsuit, the 55-year-old's six-minute medley began with a stripped-back version of her 2012 hit Dance Again before taking fans on a journey through the biggest tracks of the year. Busting a move to the likes of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us, Chappell Roan's Hot to Go, and Beyonce's Texas Hold'Em, the star packed 23 of 2024's biggest tunes into her high-octane performance. But the moment on everybody's lips occurred when she locked hers with not one but two backup dancers as Teddy Swims' Lose Control played slowly around them. Incorporating the year's biggest dance trends, Lopez managed to strike a balance between the past, present and future as she reaffirmed her status as a sex symbol amid a career spanning four separate decades. 'I had to kick things off by turning it up to the biggest songs of the year and dancing my heart out for all of you, but tonight, the spotlight belongs to you, because this is the world's largest fan-voted award show where you decide the winners,' she said after the performance.' However, the show almost didn't happen, admitting to fans in an recent Instagram story that she had sustained a nose injury during rehearsals that required 'stitching up' and a 'a whole lotta ice'. Following the show, fans were quick to heap praise on the prime mover. 'I don't know what to say anymore... this woman has no equal. One of a kind, breathtaking every time. She was irresistible! Jen, thank you for all you do for your fans!' one said. 'What a spectacular opening. So futuristic and fierce, no one entertains and puts on a show quite like you,' another commented. The star revealed the idea for the kiss was hers, telling Extra 'the kisses are going viral'. It followed the famous moment at the AMAs 22 years ago when Madonna and Britney Spears locked lips on stage.

Chappell Roan believes 'angry' younger self would be stunned by current 'freedom'

Chappell Roan has explained she believes her "angry" younger self would be stunned by her current "freedom" of expression. The Hot to Go singer reflected on her journey during an interview with the Call Her Daddy podcast, telling host Alex Cooper she had come so far to become comfortable as a queer woman that her former self would likely not recognise her as the same person. "I don't even know if my young self would be able to register that as a part of me," Chappell, 27, said. "That's how removed... I was so, so, so opposite of me now. I just wasn't awoken." Chappell, whose birth name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, added it had taken her a long time to grow comfortable with her sexuality after growing up in the culturally conservative Midwestern United States. "Young Kayleigh just felt so restricted," she said. "Because I was a problem child and so angry and so depressed and I felt like no one understood me." Achieving critical and commercial success as an openly gay musician had contributed to a sense of freedom she never believed she could access. "Now, that part of me is so alive ... I just wanted to be free, but I didn't think it would actually happen," Chappell said. "Now that it has, it's like she wouldn't believe it at all. I don't think she'd believe that this is what I do."

'Traitors' Star Gabby Windey Secretly Got Married—and I Can't Get Over Her Dress

Big congratulations are in order for Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman. Gabby, 34, shared the exciting news on Instagram that she's officially married to her 35-year-old writer and comedian partner, Robby. The Traitors star and Bachelorette alum captioned a carousel of photos and videos from the big day, "Husband and wife!! 1/11/2025," revealing that the duo tied the knot nearly two months ago. While all the details from their secret wedding are giving me major heart-eyes—like her walking down the aisle to Chappell Roan's 'Hot to Go' (iconic, tbh)—I can't stop thinking about Gabby's wedding dress. The post included the moment she walked down the aisle in a gorgeous off-white, long-sleeved gown with stunning lace detailing on the sleeves, chest and bottom of the dress. It was perfect. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Gabby explained how she ended up choosing the dress. 'At first, I wanted to go full Kourtney Kardashian, where she went in casual leather and Prada sunglasses, but we wanted to do our own thing,' she said. 'I went into department stores, and the first dress I saw on the mannequin was off-white lace, and I was like, 'This is gonna be it.'' She added, 'It was the only one they had in stock. It was a little tight and made my butt look huge, but it was perfect. Everything just fell into place so naturally. It felt so serendipitous and so precious and so meant to be.' Gabby also posted behind-the-scenes videos from their intimate wedding, which she told Cosmopolitan cost a total of just $799—yep, that includes a limo and a minister. She even shared the sweet proposal moment, revealing that Robby popped the question by showing her a completed crossword puzzle on her phone that read, 'Will you marry me, Gabby?' Chappell Roan's 'Hot to Go' Music Video Costume Sells for $89K in Benefit Auction for L.A. Wildfire Relief

A piece of Chappell Roan's wardrobe was the highest selling item in a benefit auction brimming with items for the pop culture-obsessed! The star's iconic 'Hot to Go' music video 'fit — a vintage sequined marching band unitard and strappy, knee-high boots — sold for a whopping $88,900 in Julien's Auctions' Give a Frock Auction. The auction house announced the winning bid — the highest of the entire auction! — on Tuesday, Feb. 25, following the conclusion of the event, which raised funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief. Ahead of the pop culture-centric benefit auction, the company estimated that glittering blue and gold unitard — which Roan, 27, also wore on stage at Outside Lands Festival last summer — and size 7 Jeffrey Campbell boots would go for $1,000 to $2,000, meaning it earned 88 times the lowest estimated selling price, and 44 times the highest. The sparkling, vintage ensemble — curated by Roan's stylist, Genesis Webb — was just one of the pieces she donated to the wildfire relief fundraiser. The purple set sold for $22,225 — over 22 times more than its estimated selling price of $1,000 — while the platforms raked in a grand total of $6,350. And Roan wasn't the only pop girly whose iconic pieces did numbers in the relief auction. Items worn by Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Hayley Williams, Olivia Rodrigo and the inventor of BRAT herself, Charli xcx, also sold for thousands. The iconic polka-dot co-ord Carpenter, 25, wore in her 'Taste' music video — Blondita's popular Gwen set — sold for $22,225, while the hooded Alaïa minidress she wore in her 'Please Please Please' music video (the pre-Dolly Parton version!) boasted a winning bid of $34,925. (An outfit Jenna Ortega wore in the 'Taste' video alongside the star also sold for $13,000.) Meanwhile, the Rodarte gown Rodrigo, 22, wore at the premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in 2023 fetched $10,160, and two outfits worn by Charli, 32 — a bridal-inspired ensemble and custom Gucci 'fit she wore during her Sweat Tour — went for $22,225 and $8,890 in the auction, respectively. In a statement shared after the auction, Martin Nolan, the executive director and co-founder of Julien's Auctions, said, 'We are thrilled with today's wildly successful auction and beyond grateful and overwhelmed by the support of all of the stars, who unified together to give us their most iconic frocks and pieces to rock for a good cause.' Chappell Roan fans realise they've been saying her name wrong this whole time

Grammy Award-winning artist Chappell Roan has taken to social media to set the record straight on the pronunciation of her name. The 27-year-old singer, known for viral tracks like "Hot to Go" and "Good Luck, Babe," faced some confusion among fans over how to say her name correctly. During a performance in West Des Moines, USA, on 17 March 2024, the Red Wine Supernova vocalist took a moment to clarify the pronunciation. A video from the gig was posted on Instagram, quickly going viral with over 120,000 likes, captioned: "Chappell Roan teaching you how to properly pronounce her name. March 17th, 2024." It's 'Chappell Roan,' babe." The issue has divided public opinion, with some fans expressing relief that Roan clarified her stage name pronunciation. One supporter commented: "I don't see anything wrong with her correcting the way people pronounce her stage name." However, not everyone agreed with Roan's stance on the matter. A critic remarked: "She actually cares about the pronunciation of her made up name." It was later highlighted by a fan that Roan's "made up name" is actually a tribute to her grandfather, David K. Chappell, whose legacy lives on through her stage name. Another commented: "Why wouldn't she? People get mad when other people mispronounce their usernames or their pet names." A different person remarked: "It's not made up, she named herself after her grandparent. Please don't be disrespectful. Regardless of where a name comes from, it's important that people know who you are as an artist." Chappell, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, talked about the significance of her chosen name in a Cherwell interview in 2022. She said: "I have never felt super connected to my real name Kayleigh. My grandfather's name was Dennis K. Chappell, so I took Chappell in his honour. Before he passed away in 2016 due to brain cancer, I told him that I was going to be Chappell for him." Other internet users admitted they formerly mispronounced her name as "Shapelle". During a candid Reddit discussion, members of the public who recognised their error in pronunciation shared anecdotes about how they had mistakenly called her before. One individual confessed: "I pronounced her name like Shapelle for so long and I don't want to blame myself so I'll blame my grade school French classes." Another spoke up adding: "I hate how much I love when the masses pronounce a celebrity's name wrong. Like when people say Timothée Chalamet like Timothy but he's said it's like Tim-oh-tay (sorry if I can't break down phonetics). And we've all been saying Taylor Lautner wrong for decades." One fan admitted a concert visit opened their eyes to a two-year-long error with the singer's name: "I got the Roan part right but I am trying to train myself out of saying Shappell lol. I've been calling her that for two years. I didn't even know I was pronouncing her name wrong until I went to the Columbus concert a few weeks ago lol."
