Baeksang Arts Awards 2025 full winners list: Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Tae Ri, When Life Gives You Tangerines, Ju Ji Hoon win big
The Baeksang, South Korea's biggest awards night honouring the year's best storytelling, drama, and actors across film, television, and theatre, aired its 61st edition on April 5, 2025. The results are out, and there are some major shocks and surprises. While one of the most talked-about K-dramas, When Life Gives You Tangerines, snagged a few major wins, its actors, Park Bo Gum and IU, unfortunately, lost their Best Actor and Actress awards. Meanwhile, the second most talked-about show, Lovely Runner, also saw its actors lose the race; however, they did win the popularity vote. Here is the complete winners list. Baeksang Arts Awards 2025 winners When Life Gives You Tangerines wins the Best Drama award Netflix hit When Life Gives You Tangerines, inspired by a real-life Jeju couple and starring Park Bo Gum and IU in the lead roles, has won the Baeksang Award in the Best Drama category. The show revolves around Oh Ae Sun and her life partner Gwan Sik, who have remained inseparable since childhood. The childhood sweethearts turned lovers get married early and battle life's hardships, smiling through every tangerine (lemon) thrown at them by life, while sticking together and facing it all—raising a family, getting their kids married, and just as life goes on, thinking the next spring might be better. The slice-of-life K-drama was hailed as one of the most relevant shows in recent times. The drama was up against Lovely Runner, The Tale of Lady Ok, Doubt, and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. The show received a total of 8 nods, followed by Doubt that received 6, and the rest at five. When Life Gives You Tangerines also snagged awards in categories like Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Choi Dae Hoon), and Best Supporting Actress (Yeom Hye Ran). The Best in Film category The Best Film Award went to Harbin, which stars Hyun Bin. The film was up against Love In The Big City, Revolver, House of the Seasons, and Uprising. Meanwhile, the Best Director award in the film category went to Oh Seungwook for the movie Revolver. The Best Actress award went to Jeon Doyeon for her character in Revolver. She was up against Kim Geunsoo, Song Hyekyo, Cho Yeojeong, and Kim Goeun. The Best Actor award went to Cho Jungseok for his role in the film Pilot. He was up against Yoon Joosang, Lee Byunghun, Lee Heejoon, and Hyun Bin. 23rd Directors Cut Awards: A Killer Paradox, Exhuma Earn Nods. See Full List Of Nominees
New Delhi: The Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) has officially announced the nominees for the 23rd Directors Cut Awards. Set to take place on May 20, the 23rd Directors' Cut Awards will recognise outstanding works released between January 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, from films and drama series directed by regular and associate DGK members. The Directors Cut Awards were first launched in 1998 by a group of young Korean filmmakers under the banner of "Directors Cut." Since 2017, the ceremony has been organised by the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK). The awards introduced a new category for drama series in 2022. Nominees and winners are selected entirely through votes cast by fellow Korean directors. The event honours creators with awards such as Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best New Director and the Vision Award. Unlike other major film awards, the Directors Cut Awards do not separate lead and supporting actors and actresses. Instead, they award gender-based acting categories. The nominees in 13 categories for the 23rd edition have now been revealed. In the film category, the nominees for Best Director include Kim Hyung Joo for The Match, Nam Dong Hyub for Handsome Guys, Bong Joon Ho for Mickey 17, Woo Min Ho for Harbin, Jang Jae Hyun for Exhuma and Hur Jin Ho for A Normal Family.
